Paris 2024: Simone Biles wins sixth Olympic gold after glittering all-around display for Team USA

Simone Biles has added an individual gold in the artistic gymnastics all-around to her win in Tuesday's team finals. The USA superstar put in another dominant display across three out of four apparatus, overcoming a disappointing uneven bars to regain the title she first won at Rio 2016. It is her sixth gold overall, and her collection could grow later this week with more medal events to come.

Simone Biles won gold in the women’s artistic gymnastics all-around final at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The world champion put in a dominant performance in three out of four apparatus, finishing with a stunning floor routine to blow the rest of the competition away.
The gold is the second for Biles at Paris 2024, following USA’s win in the women’s team event on Tuesday.
It is also the sixth of the 27-year-old's glittering career, following her four golds at Rio 2016.
The win sees Biles regain the title she won eight years ago.
The American star of the Bercy Arena is not finished yet, with other medal events still to come before the gymnastics wraps up on Monday, August 5.

Biles' tilt at her sixth Olympic title got off to a strong start - a 15.766 in the vault sending her into an early lead in the standings.
Her dominance wavered in the uneven bars, and her closest competitor - Brazil's Rebeca Andrade - sensed her opportunity.
The Tokyo 2020 silver medallist had put in a solid performance on the second apparatus, and took a lead going into the balance beam.
A superb display on the balance beam from the American saw her retake the lead before the floor exercise, but it was by the slimmest of margins - 0.166 points meaning the contest was perfectly poised.

Andrade knew she had to put in a brilliant performance to ramp up the pressure on Biles, and the 25-year-old managed it - a near-faultless effort leaving the American requiring to score 13.868 to clinch gold.
If Biles felt any pressure, she did not show it, performing a routine packed with a series of stunning tumbles to clinch gold at a canter.

Andrade had to settle for a second consecutive silver in the event, while Tokyo 2020 gold medallist Sunisa Lee (USA) claimed bronze.
Team GB's Alice Kinsella finished just outside the top 10 in 12th.
