Molly Caudery has continued her preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games by setting a new British women’s pole vault record.
The 24-year-old cleared 4.92 metres at the Toulouse Capitole Perche meet in France, adding six centimetres to her personal best.
She then had a single attempt at 5.00m, but her effort to get closer to Yelena Isinbayeva’s 5.06m world record failed.
Caudery’s 4.92m clearance was the seventh-best jump of all time and the current world lead, with no female pole vaulter jumping higher since 2021.
Her mark surpassed Holly Bradshaw's previous British record of 4.90m, set in 2021.
Caudery’s previous best was 4.86m, which had also been the world lead for 2024 after it was set in February.
Caudery is one of Britain’s medal favourites at the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris, having become world indoor champion in March. She also earned a bronze medal at this month’s European Championships.
Having improved steadily over the past few years, Caudery has said she is now aiming for a medal at Paris 2024.

"My expectations have absolutely changed," she said. "My original view for the future was always LA 2028, that was the Olympic Games that I would be focusing on to get a medal, everything up until then was just building.
"But now I think I have come to where I am so quickly, I need to adjust to that a little and then have those conversations."
