Team England, involved in three early gold medal bouts in Scotland on Saturday, enjoyed a successful start to the weekend's boxing at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, with three fighters topping the podium.

Team England eased to victory in their respective early session bouts on the penultimate day at the Games.

Sacha Hickey, Patris Mughalzai and Isaac Okoh were all dominant in the ring as each contributed to Team England's haul of 21 gold medals so far.

London-born Hickey had too much for Northern Ireland's Kaci Rock on Saturday.

Hickey was good value for her first ever major medal as she claimed gold at the expense of Rock in the Women's 65kg final.

Four judges scored the bout 30-27, and one more 29-28 in the 22-year-old's favour.

"It was a fair decision," Delicious Orie said on TNT Sports. "Kaci Rock, she was great. She boxed well. I just think, with Sacha Hickey, there was levels to it.

"Kaci Rock should be proud of herself. I was really impressed with her in the lead up to this fight. But there were levels, you could see it."

In the TNT Sports studio, Hickey was asked about inspiring the next generation of boxers, and she admitted that she would support anyone looking to follow in her footsteps.

"I’m always looking to inspire the next generation of girls," she said. "I hope they look at me, and they aspire to come here.

"I feel like this has been the best week of my life, so if there are any young girls that are looking to start, and they want to follow in my footsteps, then I’d definitely support them."

Mughalzai downs Cassar

In Team England's second gold medal fight of the day, Mughalzai claimed a routine win over Australian Jacob Cassar.

The 24-year-old put in a fine display against Cassar, as one judge scored 10-8 in the second round, such was the ease with which Mughalzai dismantled his opponent.

In the end, Mughalzai won unanimously to claim Team England's second gold of the day in the Men's 65kg final.

When asked by TNT Sports how it felt to be a Commonwealth champion, he replied: "Over the moon. I can't even describe how happy I'm feeling.

"It was a sacrifice to get here, but it just showed that hard work pays off. I can't explain how happy I am."

On the support from his team, Mughalzai added: "Team England's amazing. The support is crazy. This whole week, the staff, the coaches, my club coaches, they've been supporting me throughout.

"It's just unbelievable, and I'm so happy for them."

Okoh rounds off golden early session

Rounding off Team England's early session, Okoh went head-to-head with Connor Williams in the Men's 90kg final.

Like Mughalzai before him, he won by unanimous decision as the Essex-born boxer claimed the biggest victory of his career to bolster Team England's gold medal return.

"Coming into the competition, a lot of people had me as a heavy favourite," Okoh told TNT Sports after his gold medal win.

"It was stressful, man. We got the job done, three out of three, Commonwealth gold medal. We can go back and relax, and do a little bit of partying now."

When asked why he feels he performs his best boxing under pressure, the 22-year-old replied: "Pressure creates diamonds. I did feel it coming in. I was quite nervous going into all the fights to be honest with you.

"I feel like there was a bit of an expectation on me. I pulled through victorious. We go back home with a heavy gold medal in our bag."

In the TNT Sports studio, Orie asked Okoh about his mindset coming into the fight. "Just stick to what I do best," the gold medallist replied. "Big, tall, southpaw, fast, can move a bit. Just use my attributes, and do what I do best, and obviously it prevailed."

And having fought, and beaten, Williams for the second time, Okoh added: "I stuck to what I do best and let him adapt to me, rather than me adapt to him."

Bronze medallists

Rounding off Team England's medallists in Glasgow so far, Mary-Kate Smith, Lucy Kings-Wheatley and Lauren Mackie each claimed bronze in their respective bouts.

Smith secured a podium finish after she fell to defeat to Australian Emma-Sue Greentree on Friday in an even fight in Glasgow.

Ultimately, Greentree progressed to the final following a 3-2 split decision in the Women's 75kg category.

"I've got very positive reflections on it," Smith said as her time in Scotland came to an end.

"It was as close as it could be. I'll take my licks, and I'll come back. There are more things I need to refine, and the hours I put in the gym will mean I come back the finished article.

"I’m only 22, and I’m only just getting started."

In the Women's 60kg category, Kings-Wheatley lost 5-0 to Indian Priya Priya, while bantamweight Mackie was unable to get the better of Canada's Scarlett Savannah Delgado in her semi-final fight.

"I left it too late in the rounds to pick up those judges’ points, but it's been a good tournament overall," Mackie said after being beaten 4-1 on points.

"I've had four fights, and each one, it's added to that experience I need for the long journey ahead.

"The Commonwealth Games is a great tournament to be a part of, and to have a medal to take home with me is great. It's just pick up these medals and keep going."
