Tour de France game 2026: How to play the TNT Sports Cycling Challenge

The biggest show in cycling is back - and this year, we're inviting you to get even closer to the action at the Tour de France with our brand-new game, the TNT Sports Cycling Challenge.

For the first time, you can put your cycling knowledge to the test, and play along with your friends, with the TNT Sports Cycling Challenge, which is debuting at the 2026 Tour de France.

We've given you a virtual budget of £100 million to build your ultimate squad of 16 riders, with transfers available on rest days to help you deal with injuries and surprises.

Tadej Pogacar is chasing a record-equalling fifth Tour title, Jonas Vingegaard is determined to reclaim the yellow jersey and French teenage sensation Paul Seixas is looking to announce himself on cycling's biggest stage.

How does the TNT Sports Cycling Challenge work for the Tour de France?

With your £100 million budget, you'll select a squad of 16 riders.

Once you have selected your full squad, you will have the option to join a league or create a new one, so you can play along with your friends.

Teams are in the process of announcing their line-ups currently, so you may be able to select from a wider range of riders than will ultimately compete at the Tour. But don't worry, you can easily adapt your squad as more and more teams are confirmed.

When you have settled on your squad, prior to each stage you need to choose 12 riders to score points for your team, and nominate one as your leader.

How does scoring work?

For each stage, you choose which 12 riders start; the other 4 stay on the bus. Only the 12 starters can score points.

Team time trial (Stage 1)

Every rider who completes the team time trial receives these points based on the team's position:

Then for all following stages, points are allocated as follows:

Jersey wearers

The yellow jersey wearer scores an additional 10 points per stage. The Points, Mountain and Young Rider jersey wearers each score an additional five points per stage.

Team leader

If your chosen team leader finishes in the top five of the stage, they earn extra bonus points:

Final classifications

At the end of the Tour, additional bonus points are awarded based on the final General, Points, Mountains and Young Rider classifications.

How do transfers work?

No manager gets every decision right.

That's why you will receive three transfers on each rest day at the Tour de France, giving you the chance to reshape your squad.

The 2026 Tour de France rest days fall on:

• Monday, July 13 (after Stage 9)
• Monday, July 20 (after Stage 15)

You can make changes after Sunday's deadline until the start of Tuesday's stage.

How much do riders cost?

The biggest stars naturally come with the biggest price tags.

Will you spend a large chunk of your budget on proven Tour winners? Or look for value elsewhere to build a more balanced squad?
