Premier League winners Arsenal the 'best team in world without the ball', says Paris Saint-Germain's Luis Enrique ahead of UEFA Champions League final

Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique hailed Arsenal as "the best team in the world without the ball" ahead of their meeting in the UEFA Champions League final.

Arsenal are Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years, their title sealed on Tuesday night when nearest challengers Manchester City could only draw 1-1 at Bournemouth.

Now comes the biggest match in club football, with the UEFA Champions League final in Budapest between Arsenal and PSG on Saturday, May 30, to be shown live on TNT Sports and HBO Max.

Enrique told reporters: "I think they deserve to win the league - they have had a brilliant season.

"We have already played against this Arsenal side [in last season's semi-final], so we know what they are capable of.

"Without the ball, they are the best team in the world, and with it, they can score a lot. It is a wonderful combination for them.

"It makes sense that we are facing them in the final. We can look forward to a truly great final."

Enrique will be aiming for a second successive Champions League success with PSG, following their thumping 5-0 win over Inter in the final 12 months ago.

A much tougher test is expected for his team this time, and Enrique made sure to praise his opposite number in the dugout, Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta.

"When you look at Arsenal's stats, you can see that Mikel Arteta is a leader as a manager who has instilled a winning mentality in the team," Enrique said.

"They have been improving for several seasons now. They love the ball, but they are the best team in Europe without it.

"They won the Premier League, and they're in the Champions League final this year after reaching the semi-finals last season. They deserve to be there, and Arteta instils a competitive spirit in his players."

Enrique insists, however, that he is focused mostly on his own team's performance on what promises to be a night to remember in Budapest.

"The most important thing for us is to focus more on ourselves and less on the opposition. That is what we will continue to do," Enrique added.

"We are talking about the best club competition in Europe, so yes, there's an element of adaptation, because the standard is very high.

"Bayern, for example, are a team who really like to have the ball, so we had to adapt, but I think we have managed to raise our game too, and we are proud to be in the final again."

PSG will be aiming to win the competition for a second time, while Arsenal have never won the competition in their proud history.

The closest they came was 20 years ago, when they lost the 2006 final 2-1 to Barcelona in Paris.
