Cristiano Ronaldo says Manchester United 'not on a good path' and 'need to change', with Ruben Amorim having an 'impossible' job

Cristiano Ronaldo says that while he still "loves" former club Manchester United, they are "not on a good path" and "need to change". The five-time Ballon d'Or winner was discussing United's woes three years on from his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan, in which the attacker was scathing of the club's ownership and then-manager Erik ten Hag.

Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted that while he still "loves" Manchester United, the club is "not on a good path" and "needs to change".
United's three-game winning run came to an end on Saturday as they drew 2-2 at Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
Despite a marked improvement in performances and results in recent weeks, club legend Ronaldo, who moved to Old Trafford as a gangly teenager in 2009 and departed a Ballon d’Or winner in 2009, insisted that the club were still "not on a good path".
Indeed, Ronaldo’s tumultuous 18-month second spell at the club effectively came to an end in November 2022 after he gave a bombshell interview to Piers Morgan, in which he criticised former United players as well as the Glazer family and the club’s then-manager, Erik ten Hag.
Nearly three years on from that chat, Ronaldo once again lamented the present state of the Old Trafford club in an interview with Morgan.
Ronaldo told Piers Morgan Uncensored: "I'm sad because [Manchester United] are one of the most important clubs in the world, that I still have in my heart for obvious reasons.

"You have to [have] intelligent people, smart people, to create a base [that you can build on] for the future, as Manchester United had many years ago. Nicky Butt, Gary Neville, Roy Keane, David Beckham.
"Manchester United right now don't have a structure. I hope that changes in the future, because the potential of the club is amazing. They are one of the most important clubs of the century."
On his relationship with the club, Ronaldo continued: "I was there for so many years. I won the Champions League, the Golden Ball, I won like, 12, 13 or 14 trophies there. Manchester United are still in my heart.

"I love that club. But we have to all be honest and say they are not on a good path. They need to change. And it’s not only about the coach and the players, in my opinion.
"[Ruben Amorim is] doing his best. [He’s] not going to do miracles. This is impossible.
"Manchester United have good players but some of them don't have the mind, what Manchester United is."
