Manchester United recall Dean Henderson from Stockport loan

Manchester United have recalled Dean Henderson from his loan spell at Conference North side Stockport as cover for Sergio Romero.

The 18-year-old moved to Stockport in January but has been recalled after first-choice goalkeeper David De Gea suffered an injury ahead of United's 2-1 Europa League loss to Midtjylland.

With Sam Johnstone also on the sidelines, United have decided to recall the former Carlisle apprentice as cover for Sergio Romero.

Henderson is likely to be on the bench for the FA Cup tie against Shrewsbury on Monday with U21 keeper Joel Pereira – who would have ordinarily stepped up – cup tied having featured in the competition for Rochdale whilst on loan there earlier this season.

United are in the midst of an injury crisis with 14 players out injured.
