England will defend their Women’s European Championship title in Germany after the country was chosen as the host nation for the 2029 edition of the tournament.
They saw off Poland in the bidding process, as well as a joint application from Denmark and Sweden.
Portugal and Italy had been involved but decided to withdraw their interest in order to focus on bids to co-host the men’s Euro 2032 tournament and 2030 men’s World Cup.
Speaking about the decision to award the tournament to Germany, UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin said: "I want to sincerely thank all three bid delegations for their tireless work and commitment throughout the process.
"Each bid showcased vision and exceptional teamwork between national associations, governments and local experts, all inspired by the benchmark set by Switzerland last summer.
"All the presentations and all the bids were great but there is only one winner, in football as in life.
"Congratulations to Germany – we look forward to an unforgettable tournament in the summer of 2029," he said.
A total of 16 nations will compete in the tournament as Germany - who have lifted the trophy on eight occasions - host the event for the third time.
They staged the 2001 edition and also had hosting duties in 1989 as West Germany - with the hosts winning on both occasions.
Speaking about their successful bid, Bernd Neuendorf - president of the German Football Association - said: "It was a long journey. We have so many people working at DFB to get this tournament.
"Thanks to all who supported us, we felt this support throughout the campaign."
Euro 2025 in Switzerland set a tournament record for attendance, with more than 650,000 people attending matches.
The German organising team are confident of being able to raise the level again.

England will be going for a hat-trick of European titles in 2029.
Sarina Wiegman’s side retained the trophy in dramatic fashion in Switzerland, with Chloe Kelly scoring the winning penalty kick in a shootout victory in the final against Spain.
Three years previously, Kelly was the hero again as she scored an extra-time winner at Wembley to secure a 2-1 victory against Germany.

Before thinking about further success in Europe, the Lionesses have their sights firmly set on a place at the 2027 World Cup in Brazil.
They face a tricky qualification group next year, which will see them go up against Spain once again, while Ukraine and Iceland are also in their group.
England's upcoming fixtures:
- 3 March 2026: Ukraine v England
- 7 March 2026: England v Iceland
- 14 April 2026: England v Spain
- 18 April 2026: Iceland v England
- 5 June 2026: Spain v England
- 9 June 2026: England v Ukraine
Speaking after the draw about the challenge ahead, Wiegman said: "You never take anything for granted. We know the group stage which I like.
"Of course it's Spain and ourselves – we never get rid of each other so we play Spain again! It's an absolutely top-level game. But I'm also excited to play countries we haven't played yet in the last four years.
"We want to do really well and the main goal is to qualify for the World Cup. I hope we do that first in the group and then otherwise we have play-offs."
