Manchester City made it two wins from two games, after recovering from an early scare to ease their way past Ipswich Town with a 4-1 victory at the Etihad Stadium. Tottenham Hotspur claimed their first win of the new season after cruising past Everton, while West Ham United, Fulham and Nottingham Forest also won for the first time.

Erling Haaland's hat-trick and Kevin De Bruyne's strike ensured Manchester City recovered from a surprise opener from Sammie Szmodics to beat Ipswich Town 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola’s side have maximum points from their opening two games played after a win against Chelsea, and had too much for an Ipswich side who did well to keep the scoreline respectable.

It briefly looked like a shock may have been on the cards when summer signing Szmodics broke the deadlock with a finish through Ederson's legs in the seventh minute.

Tottenham Hotspur bounced back from a frustrating draw against Leicester City on the opening day by cruising past Everton with a 4-0 victory in north London.

Son Heung-Min's brace and a goal each from Yves Bissouma and Cristian Romero ensured Spurs made light work of a Toffees side who have lost both of their opening two games.

Bissouma opened the scoring when his strike bounced in off the underside of the bar after being set up by Dejan Kulusevski at the end of a free-flowing move.

Son doubled the hosts' advantage in the 25th minute when the South Korean punished Jordan Pickford's indecisiveness and fired home into a gaping net.

Romero put the result beyond any doubt in the 71st minute after powering home a header from James Maddison's perfectly weighted cross.

Ange Postecoglou's side rounded off a fine afternoon's work when Son fired home after a superb run forward from Micky van de Ven.

Soucek and Bowen seal Lopetegui’s first win

Julen Lopetegui secured his first win as West Ham United manager with an impressive 2-0 win at Crystal Palace.

Both goals from The Hammers came in the second half, as Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen scored in the space of six minutes to consign Palace to two defeats from their opening two games.

An edgy match at Selhurst Park ultimately went West Ham's way when Soucek was alert to a loose ball in the box following Aaron Wan-Bissaka's enterprising play down the right-hand side.

Bowen ensured the points went back to east London when his fine, left-footed finish flew past Dean Henderson in the Palace goal.

Fulham's club-record signing Emile Smith Rowe was on target in a 2-1 win over Leicester City at Craven Cottage.

The former Arsenal midfielder scored with a superb individual goal after taking the ball from Adama Traore and rifling a finish past Mads Hermansen in the 18th minute.

Wout Faes brought The Foxes back on level terms with a powerful header, which was initially ruled out for an offside decision against Jamie Vardy but was subsequently overruled by VAR.

It counted for little in the end, with Alex Iwobi firing his shot through Hermansen's legs in the 70th minute.
