There has been much speculation that Trent Alexander-Arnold will leave Liverpool as a free agent this summer. But another Liverpool superstar, Virgil van Dijk, insists Alexander-Arnold will "always be remembered for good things" at the club, even if he does leave. Virgil van Dijk insists Trent Alexander-Arnold will "always be remembered for good things" at Liverpool even if he decides to leave at the expiration of his contract.
There has been much speculation that Alexander-Arnold will join Real Madrid as a free agent this summer, even though his current team-mates Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah have both signed new two-year contracts at Anfield.
Liverpool are on the verge of winning the club's 20th league title and Van Dijk has hailed Alexander-Arnold's contribution at the club.
"Since I joined the club, he has been a fantastic player and there's a lot of good things that he will always be remembered for if he decides to leave," Van Dijk told reporters.
"Whatever may happen in the future for him, that's something he has to resolve with himself and the family. But he's a Liverpool player at this point and he's important for our team."
Alexander-Arnold, who won a league title, a UEFA Champions League, an FA Cup and two League Cups under Jurgen Klopp, showed his importance to Liverpool once more at Leicester on Sunday.

Alexander-Arnold scored the winning goal to edge Liverpool ever closer to glory, a strike that saw him celebrate wildly, removing his shirt in front of the away fans.
The meaning of that celebration has been much debated since, but Van Dijk said the Liverpool players have no idea about his future.
"At this point, we don't know as a group what's going to happen," Van Dijk added.

"He is already under a lot of pressure so there is no point for me to put him on the spot whatsoever."
Liverpool will be champions again if Arsenal lose to Crystal Palace on Wednesday. If the Gunners win or draw, Arne Slot's team can officially clinch the title themselves if they beat Tottenham at Anfield on Sunday.
