Manchester City's Premier League title chances were dented when they were twice pegged back in a 2-2 draw with lowly Nottingham Forest on Wednesday. City midfielder Bernardo Silva was unhappy that his side were not awarded a late penalty kick and complained to TNT Sports afterwards that "all the 50/50s have gone against us this season". The draw left City trailing leaders Arsenal by seven points.

Bernardo Silva claimed "all the 50/50s have gone against" Manchester City this season after the Premier League title-chasers were denied a late penalty in their draw with Nottingham Forest.

Pep Guardiola’s side suffered a blow to their title ambitions when relegation-battling Forest twice fought back from behind to claim a 2-2 draw at Etihad Stadium.

However, City players twice had appeals for a penalty waved away in a frantic final few minutes when Erling Haaland and Rodri went down in the box.

Reflecting on the incident, Silva claimed that he has become accustomed to decisions not going his team’s way on a night when Arsenal pulled seven points clear on top.

"I would say that we are quite used to it this season, because all the 50/50s have gone against us," Silva told TNT Sports.

"It’s the reality. I’ve just watched, for example, the Erling incident and, for me, it’s a penalty.

"It is what it is. Some people might have a different opinion. What can Erling do? We’re used to it this season, we know how it works.

"For us our job is just to be better, try to be better, because these things we can’t control. What we can control is our own performances and that’s what we need to focus on."

Guardiola: 'A lot of games to go' in title race

City have a game in hand over Arsenal as they bid to reclaim the Premier League crown, but should they win it, they would still need to make up a four-point deficit in the final eight rounds of action.

Guardiola would not be drawn on the penalty incidents, telling TNT Sports he had "nothing to say" on the matter.

The Catalan coach was instead determined to look ahead, with a packed season run-in coming up across four competitions.

"Disappointed for the result. We did everything, we didn’t concede much," Guardiola said.

"We had the chances, at the end especially, but during the game as well. But yeah, keep going."

He added: "We don’t have time to look back, so we look forward."

City travel to Newcastle United next in the FA Cup fifth round on Saturday evening, live on TNT Sports and discovery+ at 20:00.

That is followed by the first leg of their blockbuster UEFA Champions League last 16 tie against Real Madrid – also live on TNT Sports and discovery+ - on Wednesday, before a trip to West Ham United in the league.

Guardiola pointed out that "we are used to playing a lot of competitions," and gave a measured response to questions about what dropping points could mean for the title race.

"There are a lot of games to play so we have to continue," he said.
