Daniel Levy steps down from role as Tottenham Hotspur chair - 'I am incredibly proud of the work I have done'

Daniel Levy has stepped down from his role as Tottenham Hotspur's executive chair after nearly 25 years, the club have announced. “I am incredibly proud of the work I have done together with the executive team and all our employees," said Levy to the club's official website. Spurs won the UEFA Europa League last season and had a change of manager in the summer.

Daniel Levy has stepped down as Tottenham Hotspur's executive chair after almost a quarter of a century in the role.
He was appointed to Tottenham's board in December 2000 after buying a minority share in the club, eventually increasing his shareholding and replacing Lord Alan Sugar as chair in February 2001.
In his tenure, Levy has seen Spurs claim the League Cup in 2008 and the UEFA Europa League in 2025, as well as overseeing the club's move from White Hart Lane to the 62,850-capacity Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in 2019.
In the club's official announcement, Levy said he was "incredibly proud" to turn Tottenham into a "global heavyweight".
"I am incredibly proud of the work I have done together with the executive team and all our employees. We have built this club into a global heavyweight competing at the highest level. More than that, we have built a community," said Levy.
"I was lucky enough to work with some of the greatest people in this sport, from the team at Lilywhite House and Hotspur Way to all the players and managers over the years.
"I wish to thank all the fans that have supported me over the years. It hasn’t always been an easy journey but significant progress has been made. I will continue to support this club passionately."
Peter Charrington, who joined Spurs in the summer alongside new chief executive officer Vinai Venkatesham, has been appointed the club's non-executive chair.
While Tottenham announced that the ownership and shareholder structure of the club remained unchanged, Charrington called it a "new era of leadership".
"I am very honoured to become non-executive chairman of this extraordinary club and, on behalf of the board, I would like to thank Daniel and his family for their commitment and loyalty to the club over so many years," said Charrington.
"This is a new era of leadership for the club, on and off the pitch. I do recognise there has been a lot of change in recent months as we put in place new foundations for the future.
"We are now fully focused on stability and empowering our talented people across the club, led by Vinai and his executive team."

Tottenham's men's team welcomed a new head coach in the form of Thomas Frank after the departure of Ange Postecoglou in June - which came after the Australian led them to European glory.
Meanwhile, Martin Ho was appointed the new head coach of the women's side in July, succeeding Robert Vilahamn who joined Spurs a month after Postecoglou arrived in north London.
Frank's first encounter after Levy's exit comes in the form of a London derby, travelling to face West Ham United on Saturday, September 13 when the Premier League resumes following the international break.
