Arne Slot has confirmed that Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah will miss the club's Premier League visit to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, live on TNT Sports and discovery+. The Egypt forward picked up a knock during Liverpool's 4-0 win over Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Alisson could also be absent for the match.

Mohamed Salah will miss Liverpool's clash with Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League on Saturday, live on TNT Sports and discovery+, while goalkeeper Alisson could also miss out.

Salah was forced off at Anfield during the second half of their UEFA Champions League victory over Galatasaray on Wednesday.

An eventful night for the 33-year-old saw him have a penalty saved before registering a goal and assist as Liverpool overturned a 1-0 first-leg deficit to win 4-1 on aggregate and set up a quarter-final reunion with holders Paris Saint-Germain.

But following his heroics, he picked up a knock and signalled to the bench to be replaced, with Cody Gakpo coming on in his stead with just over 15 minutes to play.

And Arne Slot spoke before Liverpool's trip to Brighton to give up an update on his injury status.

"Indeed, [it's] unusual. As a result of that I think you can expect the outcome. So, [he's] not available for tomorrow," Slot said.

Salah will also miss Egypt's friendly with Spain on March 31 as part of their preparation for the FIFA World Cup.

"The good thing for Liverpool and for us is that we go to an international break. The bad thing for Egypt is that he can't go there," Slot added.

"We are hoping also with what Mo has shown in the past that he can recover faster than other players might in similar situations because he takes such good care of his body. History has shown that he can be back earlier than some others.

"But it's only two weeks when we go again so let's hope in that period of time he can be back."

The match between Egypt and Spain was originally scheduled to take place in Qatar but, owing to the conflict in the Middle East, will now take place in Barcelona.

Liverpool, meanwhile, travel to the south coast with the intent of dragging themselves into the top four and a step closer to securing Champions League football for next season.

They remain two points behind Aston Villa in fourth and a win in East Sussex will be vital with Chelsea hot on their tail and just a point behind.

"Joe was on the bench but he wasn't able to come in," Slot explained.

"We tried to postpone it as far as we could. He already told me before the start of the game he didn't feel good. I said, 'OK, let's wait to half-time [and] a miracle can happen - we might need you in extra-time.'

"He might be available tomorrow but definitely not to start."
