Man Utd to make ‘renewed attempt’ to sign De Jong

Manchester United will “make a renewed attempt” to buy Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong, claims a report in the Express.
The Red Devils have long been linked with a move for the Netherlands international, who reportedly turned down a move to Manchester in 2022.
But United are now said to be considering a new bid.
“Manchester United will make a renewed attempt to prise Frenkie de Jong away from Barcelona this summer, according to reports in Spain,” states the outlet.
“The Red Devils failed miserably to sign De Jong in 2022 but the Catalan club's need to sell could play straight into Erik ten Hag's hands over the next two weeks.
“The current state of play leaves Barca in need of a big sale in order to register their summer signings, and De Jong is one of their most valuable assets. According to Sport, United are preparing a huge push and will 'spare no effort' to sign him if the opportunity arises.
“A bid of just over £51m would reportedly be considered by Barcelona after they spent big on signing Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig.
“However, De Jong's stance has not shifted and he is said to be keen on spending at least another season in Spain. Manager Hansi Flick is also intent on keeping hold of him as a central figure in his team.”

Al Ahli ready to move for Toney

Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli are ready to offer Brentford striker Ivan Toney a three-year deal.
Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have been linked with a move for the England international, but Al Ahli - who already boast Riyad Mahrez and Roberto Firmino - are preparing a mega deal to land their man, claims the Mail.
“Brentford's £60m-rated striker Ivan Toney is wanted by Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia who are willing to offer a three-year deal,” reads the article.
“The 28-year-old remains an option for Premier League sides but is waiting on other deals falling into place.
“He still wants to leave Brentford, but has just over two weeks for all parties to agree on his transfer.”

Phillips could make Ipswich squad for Liverpool game

Kalvin Phillips could be in the Ipswich Town squad to face Liverpool on Saturday, which is live on TNT Sports and discovery+.
That is according to a report in the Guardian, which claims the England international was expected in Ipswich for a medical on Thursday.
The 28-year-old is reportedly on the verge of joining Kieran McKenna’s side on a season-long loan from Manchester City.
The report reads: “Phillips is expected in Ipswich for a medical on Thursday and, should the deal be completed in time, he could be in contention for a spot in their squad to face Liverpool at Portman Road on Saturday
“Everton and Fulham had also been interested in signing Phillips, who went on City’s pre-season trip to the US and fared well in an unfamiliar centre-back role.”
