Paul Pogba could leave current club Juventus and restart his football career with Marseille, while Erik ten Hag is planning to stay at Manchester United in the coming weeks. Elsewhere, former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp may eye up talent at Anfield for his new role at Red Bull, and Hugo Viana’s appointment at Manchester City might see Ruben Amorim replace Pep Guardiola.

Pogba poised for Marseille deal
With his time at Juventus almost certainly coming to a close in the next few months, the Daily Express relays reports that Paul Pogba could link up with Marseille.
The 31-year-old looks likely to return to the sport in March when his doping ban expires.
The paper writes: “Paul Pogba could be set for a reunion with his former Manchester United team-mate Mason Greenwood, with the French midfielder reportedly in advanced talks to join Marseille.
“The 31-year-old had been suspended from all football activities for four years after testing positive for dehydroepiandrosterone, but saw his provisional ban reduced to 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The Juventus man is now allowed to return to the sport in March.
“However, Pogba’s time at the Serie A giants is thought to be over. He has missed the past 14 months due to the ban and various reports claim that it is unlikely he will continue his career with Juventus under new boss Thiago Motta.
“And Ivorian outlet NCI claims that Pogba is already in extensive talks with Marseille, with the expectation that he will agree to a contract termination with Juventus. He is available to train in January and is likely to sign for a new club during the winter transfer window.”
Ten Hag expects United stay
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag appears likely to remain at the club, at least for now.
The Daily Mail claims that the Dutchman is planning to take charge of United after the international break.
The paper reports: “Erik ten Hag is planning on being in charge for Manchester United’s next game after the international break despite a wall of silence over his future from the club.
“Sir Jim Ratcliffe ducked a question over Ten Hag’s position last week, and United have made no comment since the minority owner met with senior executives at his Ineos headquarters for six hours in London on Tuesday.
“Ten Hag has won just two of his eight games since chief executive Omar Berrada and sporting director Dan Ashworth publicly backed him last month, while stressing that they started work at United in July after the decision was made to keep the Dutchman and extend his contract.
“The club don’t want to be pressured into giving another vote of confidence in the 54-year-old while his future remains uncertain, even though it has fuelled speculation that they could turn to Thomas Tuchel or install Ten Hag’s assistant Ruud van Nistelrooy as interim boss.”
Klopp may look to Liverpool in Red Bull role
The Mirror suggests that Jurgen Klopp may keep an eye on Liverpool in his new role as Head of Soccer at Red Bull.
Liverpool and various Red Bull teams have exchanged players at times, and that might lead Klopp to return to Anfield in search of talent for his new teams.
The paper explains: “Jurgen Klopp has taken on the role of Red Bull's Head of Soccer - and he could play a role in future Liverpool transfers.
“The ex-Reds manager starts his new position on January 1st 2025, and will have oversight across the company's network of clubs that includes Red Bull Salzburg, RB Leipzig and New York Red Bulls. Klopp is taking on a 'strategic role' with the clubs and will not be involved day-to-day.
“The 57-year-old instead will be focused on advancing Red Bull's philosophy. They intend for the German to 'leverage his extensive network to aid in scouting top talent and contribute to the training and development of coaches'.
“Klopp's network is likely to be strongest at Anfield after spending nine years with Liverpool, and his former assistant Pep Lijnders is currently in charge of Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg. The Reds already appear to have a good relationship with Red Bull - and it would be no surprise to see that relationship deepen.”
Viana move could lead to Amorim appointment
Hugo Viana is heavily linked with the chance to replace Txiki Begiristain at Manchester City in the coming months.
For The Sun, that is a sign that should Pep Guardiola leave the club, then Viana’s Sporting Lisbon colleague Ruben Amorim could be tipped as his replacement.
The paper states: “Hugo Viana’s likely move to Manchester City may not be the last time a key figure from Sporting Lisbon ends up at the Etihad.
“Viana was close friends with Ruben Amorim well before they teamed up at Sporting to transform the club from cash-strapped underachievers to champions on and off the pitch.
“Sporting’s current sporting director is set to replace Txiki Begiristain in the same role at City in early 2025.
“And when the time comes for City to find a successor to boss Pep Guardiola, it would be a surprise if they did not take a close look at Amorim - already described by Guardiola as ‘one of the best’ coaches around.”
