Liverpool are planning for the exit of Mohamed Salah and have Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig in mind, but Manchester United could provide stiff competition for the player in the summer as he is on their own transfer shortlist. United are preparing to see Casemiro leave at the season’s end. Elsewhere, Cristiano Ronaldo’s son is now expected to join Real Madrid from Al Nassr.

Salah in demand - but who will replace him?
European, American and Saudi Arabian sides will all be interested in Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah when he leaves in the summer - and the Reds are already hunting his replacement.
Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig, Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola and Michael Olise of Bayern Munich are all options.
The Daily Mail reports: ”For Salah, the Saudis are coming but they are not the only ones. MLS sides, including Egyptian-owned San Diego and Chicago Fire, have previously weighed up whether to make a marquee signing in the same year that America hosts a World Cup.
”Given he will leave on a free transfer, European sides are suddenly back in the game to sign Salah. Previously, they would have perhaps been ruled out on financial grounds.
”Saying that, Saudi Arabia still appears to be the most likely destination. Sources say clubs in the Gulf nation would at the very least match his wages of around £400,000 a week but make it tax free, which is a similar structure to what was discussed in 2023.
”RB Leipzig's Yan Diomande is a name that has been floating around for months and the winger has recently attempted to change agencies.
”Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola was offered to them last year, while fans like the idea of Bayern Munich superstar Michael Olise, though he would be far from cheap and maybe unattainable.”
United line up summer options
Manchester United have Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye, Lewis Hall of Newcastle, and a host of midfield options under consideration for this summer.
However, they too are interested in Leipzig’s Diomande, potentially setting up a battle with Liverpool in the coming transfer window.
The Mirror claims: ”Everton star Iliman Ndiaye and Newcastle's Lewis Hall have emerged as targets for Manchester United ahead of the summer transfer window. Despite their managerial situation still being uncertain, United chiefs are pressing on with plans for next season.
”The Red Devils' recruitment team, led by Christopher Vivell, want to sign a left-back, with Newcastle star Hall under consideration. Recently called up to the England squad, the ex-Chelsea prospect enjoyed another impressive campaign at St James' Park.
”Hall, 21, starred in both legs of Newcastle's Champions League round-of-16 loss against Barcelona. Eintracht Frankfurt's Nathaniel Brown is also said to be a target, with the 22-year-old Germany international scoring four goals and providing two assists in the Bundesliga this season.
”RB Leipzig wonderkid Yan Diomande would be [an] alternative to Ndiaye, with rivals Liverpool also linked to the 19-year-old Ivorian. But that isn't the only position which United are targeting.
”Midfield is a well-established area which United are scouting for, too. Targets to replace the outgoing Casemiro include Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba, Joao Gomes and Adam Wharton.”
Casemiro contract resolved
Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has altered his agreement with the club before his departure in the summer.
The veteran will no longer have a clause in his deal which would guarantee him a contract extension should he play 35 league games this season, freeing him up to move on.
The Daily Star clarifies: ”Manchester United have reached an agreement with Casemiro to resolve the Brazilian's contract dispute.
”Casemiro will be available to start every remaining match for Manchester United this season after a clause in his contract that would have triggered an extension was scrapped.
”It's understood that the 34-year-old had a clause in his agreement that would have led to a one-year extension if he started 35 Premier League matches in his final season at the club, a target he remains on track to achieve.
”The Brazilian midfielder was told by United officials earlier in the season that his contract wouldn't be renewed, but in early 2026, he decided to make the news public, a request to which United agreed.”
Ronaldo set to join Real Madrid
Cristiano Ronaldo’s son - Cristiano Ronaldo Jr - is set to join his father’s former club, Real Madrid, as a youth team player.
The 15-year-old has trained with their under-16 side and is due to join from Al Nassr, where his father currently plays.
The Athletic writes: ”Cristiano Ronaldo’s eldest son trained with Real Madrid’s academy on Tuesday with a view to joining the youth ranks in the near future.
”Ronaldo Jr, 15, trained with Madrid’s under-16 side. The teenager plays as a striker and is in the academy of Saudi Pro League team Al Nassr, who his father signed for in December 2022.
”A move to Madrid would see him join the club where Ronaldo senior is the all-time leading goalscorer with 450 goals in 438 appearances. During his nine years in the Spanish capital, Ronaldo won the Champions League on four occasions, La Liga twice and the Copa del Rey twice.”
