Napoli could make a move for Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, while The Red Devils are unlikely to be able to recall forward Rasmus Hojlund from his loan with the Serie A side. Elsewhere, AC Milan are keen on West Ham’s misfiring striker Niclas Fullkrug, and Rob Edwards appears close to joining Wolverhampton Wanderers from Middlesbrough.

McTominay wants Mainoo reunion
The Mirror reports that Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay wants his current club to sign Kobbie Mainoo.
The Manchester United midfielder has been linked with a loan move for the rest of the season as he looks to get minutes on the pitch.
The Mirror states: "Scott McTominay is attempting to convince Napoli to rescue Kobbie Mainoo from Manchester United. The Red Devils academy graduate has endured a tough time of things under Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.
"Having been a key player under former boss Erik ten Hag, he has fallen down the pecking order under the Portuguese head coach. And that has led to suggestions that he could soon leave his boyhood club.
"Italian giants Napoli have been linked and after making a similar move in 2023, former United team-mate Scott McTominay is attempting to manufacture a swoop.
"Mainoo, 20, has made 80 appearances for United since breaking into the side in 2022, scoring seven goals. He has made a further eight outings this campaign, albeit only one of those has been from the start. Mainoo has less than two years left to run on his contract with United."
Hojlund recall scuppered
The Daily Star believes that Manchester United are unable to recall Rasmus Hojlund from his loan spell at Napoli.
The paper explains that the terms of the deal between the two sides mean that the loan spell cannot be interrupted, and could be made permanent.
The outlet claims: "Hojlund remains a United player, with the Denmark striker currently on loan at Napoli in Italy. The 22-year-old has netted four times in nine outings for the Serie A title-holders.
"Fabrizio Romano has suggested that the loan arrangement includes an option that could transform into an obligation, though those involved in the agreement consider it 'guaranteed' should they secure Champions League qualification.
"This means United have no recall clause available should they wish to bring him back to Old Trafford during the January window. Prior to the Spurs clash, rumours had suggested United were eyeing a new striker to challenge [Benjamin] Sesko during the second half of the campaign."
Fullkrug linked with AC Milan
West Ham United striker Niclas Fullkrug could leave the Premier League side in January, according to reports in Italy.
The Sun relays the news that AC Milan are interested in the 32-year-old forward, who is yet to score this campaign.
The paper reports: "After just three goals at West Ham in 15 months, Niclas Fullkrug could be set to leave mid-season.
"The German forward has been a major flop in east London since his move from Borussia Dortmund in 2024 off the back of European Championship heroics.
"Fullkrug’s first year was blighted by injury but the veteran striker has failed to find form since returning to the field.
"He is yet to score this season after only managing to find the net three times in 20 appearances in his debut campaign at the London Stadium.
"Now, with the January transfer window approaching, he has interest from AC Milan, according to reports in Italy."
Edwards poised for Wolves job
Rob Edwards is widely tipped to take over at Wolverhampton Wanderers after he was given permission to speak to the club by Middlesbrough.
The Athletic reports that Wolves will pay Edwards’ current club £3 million in compensation for the 42-year-old.
The website writes: "Rob Edwards is set to leave Middlesbrough and be appointed Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
"There is club-to-club agreement over a compensation fee of around £3 million for the 42-year-old, whose existing Middlesbrough deal was due to run through to 2028, with discussions now ongoing over the make-up of Edwards’ new coaching team.
"Wolves believe the appointment of Edwards, who spent four years of his playing career at Molineux and was interim coach in 2016, will be a long-term one that will not only cover their bid to avoid relegation from the Premier League this term but a future attempt to regain promotion should they go down."
