Alongside Guimaraes, Arsenal are seeking to add a defender and are attempting to negotiate a deal for the Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior.
The Athletic writes: "It is about time Arsenal pushed forward and neared a total agreement for the transfer of Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes.
"After missing out on Morgan Rogers, who joined Chelsea from Aston Villa for £117m, there is a feeling that the club must get a move on with their incoming summer transfer business. Alongside Guimaraes, they also want to add a defender and are trying to pull off a deal for Vinicius Junior.
"Christos Tzolis has arrived for €40m (£34m) from Club Brugge, but is the only new signing who truly impacts the first team. Arsenal kicked off their pre-season at the weekend (beating Girona on August 1)."
The Athletic's David Ornstein has added that Arsenal are nearing "total agreement with Newcastle" to sign Guimaraes.
Ornstein says there is a "desire among all parties to bring situation to a close" and the "deal is now on course for completion".
Man Utd consider Obi exit
Michael Carrick is prepared to allow a group of young academy players to leave Manchester United.
Bids would be considered for Ethan Wheatley, Toby Collyer, Dan Gore, Radek Vitek, and Harry Amass.
Additionally, 19-year-old midfielder Jacob Devaney could be sent out on loan following a period at St Mirren, while 18-year-old striker Chido Obi also faces an uncertain future.
The Mirror writes: "Michael Carrick is willing to let a group of young Manchester United players leave the club this summer as part of the squad overhaul. Carrick was given the reins permanently after making a significant impact as interim head coach and is ready to wave goodbye to some academy graduates.
”The club are open to offers for Ethan Wheatley, Toby Collyer, Dan Gore, Radek Vitek and Harry Amass, while Jacob Devaney and Chido Obi are also facing uncertain futures.
”Midfielder Devaney, 19, could be sent away on loan again after a stint at St Mirren, while striker Chido Obi, 18, is yet to make a mark following a move from Arsenal in 2024."
Rashford set to stay at United
Marcus Rashford appears increasingly likely to feature for Manchester United again after a previous £40 million valuation window expired in mid-July without a permanent exit.
While Barcelona did not make his loan permanent, multiple clubs across the Premier League, Italy, Germany, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia continue to assess a potential loan deal.
With Matheus Cunha and Patrick Dorgu as the primary options on the left wing, finding a late replacement could prove challenging if a departure materialises.
MailSport writes: "Once the deadline for Barca to sign Rashford expired on June 15, United made it known that they would listen to offers of £40 million from other clubs – with the exception of Manchester City and Liverpool – for the Wythenshawe-born player until that option ran out in mid-July.
”Daily Mail Sport understands that a number of clubs from the Premier League – including two with a particular interest – as well as from Italy, Germany, Turkey and Saudi Arabia are still weighing up a move, most likely on loan.
”Might the club be tempted to accept an offer – a permanent move or loan – as the deadline draws near? With only Matheus Cunha and Patrick Dorgu to play on the left wing, would United have time to sign a replacement if he leaves?
”After it appeared for a long time as though there was no way back for Rashford at United, it now seems more likely than not that he will play for the club again."
Spurs register interest in Chelsea striker Jackson
Tottenham Hotspur have expressed an interest in Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson as head coach Roberto De Zerbi seeks to bring in up to three new attacking players before the transfer deadline.
Talks are ongoing for Manchester City winger Savinho, alongside interest in Liverpool's Cody Gakpo. Jackson, who is also targeted by Aston Villa, is currently on a pre-season tour with Chelsea following a loan spell at Bayern Munich and is valued at £65 million.
The Sun writes: "Tottenham have expressed an interest in Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson.
”Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi is keen to add up to three more forwards to his side this summer.
”Talks are ongoing over a deal for Manchester City‘s Savinho, while Liverpool‘s Cody Gakpo is a target.
”Jackson, 25, is on pre-season tour with Chelsea after returning from a frustrating year on loan at Bayern Munich.
”The Senegal international, who is also a target for Aston Villa, is valued at £65m by Spurs’ London rivals."
