With the 2024/25 UEFA Nations League reaching its final stages, attention will soon be on the tournament's next edition. The likes of France, Spain, Germany, Portugal and Italy will again be the frontrunners in League A, while both England and Wales are back in the top division after promotion from League B. Scotland, meanwhile, have been relegated to the second tier.

The 2024/25 UEFA Nations League will conclude this summer, with Germany facing Portugal and Spain meeting France in June's semi-finals.
Focus will then turn to next year's World Cup in the United States, after which the Nations League will return for the 2026/27 season, with potential implications for Euro 2028 qualification.
But when does the next Nations League tournament begin? And what is the schedule for the 2026/27 edition? Read on for all the information you need.
When is the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League?
The 2026/27 Nations League will get underway in September 2026.
The window for the first group of fixtures in the league phase is between September 21–October 6. During that period, each team's first four matches will be played.
Matchdays five and six will be played between November 9-17, 2026.
That will be followed by the League A quarter-finals and League A/B and B/C play-offs between March 22-30, 2027.
The semi-finals, third-place play-off and final will take place between June 7-15, 2027.

What are the leagues for the 2026/27 Nations League?
The six teams that finished bottom of their respective groups in League A will be relegated to League B. They are Poland, Israel, Switzerland and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Hungary and Scotland, meanwhile, suffered relegation through the play-offs.
England, Norway, Wales and Czech Republic will play in League A after earning automatic promotion from their respective League B groups, with Turkey and Greece advancing through the play-offs.
Romania, Sweden, North Macedonia, Northern Ireland and Kosovo have been promoted to League B, while Iceland, Albania, Montenegro, Kazakhstan and Finland have been relegated to League C.
Moldova and San Marino will move up to League C, with Azerbaijan and Lithuania dropping into League D.

How are teams seeded for the 2026/27 Nations League?
Teams will be seeded based on their performance in the 2024/25 Nations League, taking into account results in the league phase, knockout stages and play-offs.
In Leagues A, B and C, countries will be separated into four pots of four teams for the group stage draw.
In League D, there will be two pots, with pot one consisting of just two teams and pot two made up of the remaining four.
League A
Pot 1: Germany, Spain, Portugal, France
Pot 2: Italy, Netherlands, Denmark, Croatia
Pot 3: Serbia, Belgium, England, Norway
Pot 4: Wales, Czech Republic, Greece, Turkey
League B
