Alex Marquez could scarcely believe that he had finally won his first full MotoGP race after claiming a win at his home Grand Prix in Jerez, Spain, on Sunday afternoon. The win came at the expense of his brother, Marc, who went into the gravel early on and was unable to recover enough positions to hold onto the world championship lead. That also went to Alex, who now has a single-point advantage.

Alex Marquez said that winning was a "strange feeling" and that his Grand Prix Spain victory felt like "a dream, but it’s true".
The 29-year-old claimed his first-ever MotoGP victory after his brother crashed out early in Jerez, and was unable to recover sufficiently to retain his place at the top of the world championship leaderboard.
Instead, younger brother Alex now tops the standings by a single point, after getting past pole-sitter Fabio Quartararo and holding off any and all challenges until he crossed the finish line.
The two brothers celebrated after the victory, and given it was Alex’s first win of his career in top-level MotoGP, he could scarcely believe what he had achieved.
"Amazing. I cannot say anything more. I have a strange feeling, because it's like a dream, but it's true. I know that it's true," he told TNT Sports.
He added: "I still don't realise what happened today. We did the perfect race. It's true that in the first two laps we did some mistakes, especially on Turn 6, but I was really sure to go in on Marc."

Marquez also revealed that he knew that the victory was his to lose when his brother crashed out, and he then focused on his lead over the chasing pack.
