MotoGP championship leader Jorge Martin to join Aprilia from Prima Pramac Racing for 2025 season

MotoGP championship leader Jorge Martin will join Aprilia from Prima Pramac Racing for the 2025 season.

The 26-year-old will replace the retiring Aleix Espargaro next season when he moves from Ducati to the Noale factory on a multi-year contract.

He is currently leading the overall standings in this year's championship by 18 points.

Aprilia Racing CEO Massimo Rivola believes signing Martin will help the team achieve their goals in the years to come.

"A path of unstoppable growth, Jorge is a building block to reach the goal we are all looking for with great hunger at Aprilia Racing," he said.

Martin finished third in Sunday's Italian Grand Prix and will compete in the Dutch Grand Prix later this month.

He finished as runner-up in the overall standings behind Francesco Bagnaia in 2023 and is looking to go one step further this year.

Martin joined the premier class with Pramac Racing Ducati in 2021, recording his first MotoGP podium in Qatar before a serious accident ahead of the 2021 Portuguese Grand Prix ruled him out for four races.

Aprilia are currently third in the overall constructors' standings behind KTM and Ducati.
