New Zealand centre Jordie Barrett looks to be in a race against time to be fit for the start of the 2024 Autumn Nations Series after suffering an MCL injury. Barrett, 27, went off limping during New Zealand’s 31-28 win over Australia at the weekend. He has said the recovery time is four-to-six weeks. Jordie Barrett is a doubt for the start of New Zealand’s 2024 Autumn Nations Series after injuring the medial collateral ligament in his left knee.
The 27-year-old centre was limping as he was taken off at half-time during New Zealand’s 31-28 win over Australia at the weekend.
He has been ruled out of New Zealand’s final Rugby Championship match against the Wallabies on Saturday.
“Unfortunately I’ve done some damage to my MCL,” Barrett wrote on Instagram.
“Will miss a short period of time, four-six week recovery.”
After concluding the Rugby Championship, the All Blacks do not play again until facing Japan on October 26.

They then start their Autumn Nations Series against England on November 2 before meeting Ireland on November 8.
The 2024 Autumn Nations Series will see the best of northern hemisphere rugby hosting 21 fixtures against teams from across the world this November with supporters in the UK and Ireland able to follow all the action live on TNT Sports and discovery+.
Barrett, who is joining Leinster on a short-term deal in December, looks to be in a race against time to be fit for the start of the Autumn Nations Series.
He was seen leaving Sydney in a knee brace following the win over Australia.
“Sore, and a scan tomorrow” All Blacks head coach Scott Robertson said about Barrett.
“That’s right, we’ve got that period of time to get that month under the belt to get the knee to 100%, and it gives us the opportunity to play a couple of other players.”
Neither New Zealand or Australia are in contention to win the Rugby Championship.
South Africa and Argentina meet in a title decider in Mbombela.
