'Superstar' Henry Pollock is giving England's experienced stars 'new lease of life' after Argentina win in Quilter Nations Series

Ellis Genge believes that Henry Pollock helped England's experienced players up their game during the Quilter Nations Series. The Bristol Bears prop spoke after aiding Steve Borthwick’s side to a 27-23 win against Argentina. Genge started the match in the front row, while Pollock came on in the 51st minute to help his team get over the line and make it four wins from four in this autumn.

Ellis Genge believes that Henry Pollock is a "superstar" who has given England’s older heads a "new lease of life" during the Quilter Nations Series.

The Bristol Bears prop spoke after he and his 20-year-old team-mate helped England to a nail-biting 27-23 triumph over Argentina.

Genge started the game in the front row, with Max Ojomoh and Immanuel Feyi-Waboso crossing the whitewash for Steve Borthwick’s side, before Justo Piccardo got one back for The Pumas.

Henry Slade scored England’s third after half-time, but Argentina staged a stunning comeback that saw them finish within four points of the hosts after a try from Rodrigo Isgro as well as three penalties from Tomas Albornoz and Santiago Carreras.

Pollock came off the bench in the 51st minute, and Genge admitted he enjoys watching his prodigious team-mate.

"It has been amazing," he said. "You've got 20-year-olds like Pollock, or 19 when he first came into camp.

"I enjoy watching him loving it. He's a superstar in his own right and he deserves it.

"Obviously, sometimes you have to tell him to wind his neck in, but he's a ball of energy, and it almost gives me a new lease of life.

"When you're getting old, you've got three kids, and then you've got a bloke coming in with the Gaultier and he thinks he's the boy.

"He gives me a new lease on life and I genuinely love watching him enjoying himself. I do feel like a dad, ironically. He gives me energy. I love watching his work."

England have now won all four of their Quilter Nations Series matches after also beating New Zealand, Australia and Fiji this month.

Genge believes his side could have easily slipped against Argentina following their stunning victory against The All Blacks last weekend.

"We're over the moon, obviously. It was pretty ugly at the end there," he added.

"It was heart in the mouth stuff. But I think the last time we went four out of four in the autumn was 2017. It's crazy for us to be part of something so special.

"That type of form doesn't come around very often, and you have to work hard. It was easy for this work to go downhill, but I'm so proud of the boys.

"It would be easy to chuck in the towel after you beat New Zealand last week, and then you play Argentina. Emotions have been high in the week.

"I'm just so proud of the group."

Earl says Ojomoh display shows the quality of the PREM

Ben Earl believes that Ojomoh's performance against Argentina has proven how high the quality of the Gallagher PREM really is.

The Bath Rugby back was making his home debut for England after being drafted in as a late replacement for the injured Fraser Dingwall.

Ojomoh was a threat throughout, but Earl believes the centre has impressed with Bath time and time again.

"Firstly, what I would say is I think domestic rugby in England gets a bad rap," he said.

"There's no coincidence that Max Ojomoh's been turning out good performances for Bath, he steps up here at the Allianz and performs.

"The league is breeding good international players, so that's the foremost thing. But he's been doing that the whole campaign.

"I would love to know the score between the team that's playing and the team that's not playing - it's pretty close in training.

"I think that's the sign of a good squad. People are turning up and training and doing really well."
