Novak Djokovic eyes tennis match at ‘very special’ football stadium ahead of 2025 Madrid Open - ‘It would be great’

Novak Djokovic is considered one of the greatest tennis players of all time, an he has revealed that it would be "amazing" to put his talents on show at Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu one day, calling it "the best stadium in the world". The 24-time Grand Slam winner spoke ahead of the 2025 Madrid Open, where he has been placed on the same side of the draw as Spanish rival Carlos Alcaraz.

Novak Djokovic has revealed it would be amazing to play a tennis match at Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu one day.
The 24-time Grand Slam winner made the comments while being shown around the iconic football ground.
The Bernabeu underwent a costly renovation between 2019 and 2024, adding, among other things, a retractable roof.
Former world No. 1 Djokovic believes that the home of Los Blancos is now the best stadium in the world.
"What a beauty. It's very special," he said in a video posted on Real Madrid's social media accounts.
"It is the best stadium in the world. It is amazing. Wow, what an experience. [Playing a tennis match] here would be amazing.
"Maybe, who knows? One day. It would be great."
The 37-year-old was speaking ahead of the first round of the 2025 Madrid Open on Tuesday.
The Serbian star is yet to find out who he will face in his opening match of the tournament, but the likes of Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz are all in the draw.
Djokovic could meet Alcaraz in the semi-finals, with the pair drawn in the same half. The 37-year-old will first have to navigate a second-round clash against Matteo Arnaldi or a qualifier.

Djokovic is coming off the back of a last-32 exit from the Monte-Carlo Masters, where he was eliminated following a 6-3 6-4 defeat to Alejandro Tabilo.
Tabilo fell at the next hurdle, losing 6-3 3-6 6-2 to Grigor Dimitrov, while Alcaraz went on to claim the title by coming from behind to beat Lorenzo Musetti in the final.
