When is the 2025 Australian Open women's final between Aryna Sabalenka and Madison Keys? How to watch, UK start time

The 2025 Australian Open women’s final will be contested by Aryna Sabalenka and Madison Keys.

World No. 1 Sabalenka beat good friend Paula Badosa in straight sets to move a step away from a third straight title in Melbourne.

Keys saved a match point to overcome world No. 2 Iga Swiatek in a thrilling semi-final to reach her second Grand Slam final.

When does the Australian Open women’s final start? How to watch in the UK? And who leads the head-to-head record between Sabalenka and Keys?

The Australian Open women’s final between Sabalenka and Keys starts at 08:30am UK time on Saturday, January 25.

It will be played on Rod Laver Arena in the evening session and will be best-of-three sets, with the third set decided by a 10-point tie-break if it goes to 6-6.

The Australian Open final will be the sixth meeting between Sabalenka and Keys.

Sabalenka leads the career head-to-head 4-1, winning all four of their hard-court matches and both Grand Slam meetings. 

Keys did push Sabalenka close when they last met at a Grand Slam in the 2023 US Open semi-finals, losing 6-0 6-7(1) 6-7(5).

Sabalenka is aiming to become the sixth woman to win the Australian Open title for a third time in a row, following some greats of the game: Margaret Court, Evonne Goolagong Cawley, Steffi Graf, Monica Seles and Martina Hingis.

While Sabalenka is playing in her third straight Australian Open final, Keys is appearing in the second Grand Slam final of her career.

The first was at the 2017 US Open when she was beaten 6-3 6-0 by Sloane Stephens.

"I've obviously thought of that match endlessly for the past eight years," said Keys with a smile after beating Swiatek.

"I think during that match, I was so consumed with being nervous and the moment and the opportunity and all of that, that I never really gave myself a chance to actually play. I think that I've done a lot of work trying to not get rid of nerves because I think in the past in my head it was kind of always the people who play amazing in the tight moments, they either don't have nerves or they figure out how to get rid of them, instead of being able to play tennis with them.

"I think the big thing for me has just been knowing that there are going to be a lot of moments where I'm uncomfortable in the match. It's going to be stressful. You have thousands of people watching you. You might not be playing your best tennis. But instead of trying to shy away from that and search for settling or comfort or anything, just being OK that that's the situation, and you can also play tennis through that, I think is something that I've been working really hard on. 

"I think that's probably one of the biggest lessons that I can take from that US Open final and just be OK with knowing that I'm probably going to be uncomfortable 99% of the time that I'm on the court, and that's OK, and I can still also play tennis through that."
