No. 1 seed Aryna Sabalenka and Naomi Osaka will battle for a place in the French Open quarter-finals in the headline evening session on Court Philippe-Chatrier on Monday.

The clash between the pair - each four-time Grand Slam champions - is the first women's match to headline the evening slot on the showcase court at Roland-Garros since 2023.

Sabalenka has yet to drop a set en route to the fourth round, dismissing Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, Elsa Jacquemot and Daria Kasatkina in the opening week, as she bids to bounce back from last year's heartbreak against Coco Gauff in the final.

Osaka, though, will prove stern opposition. The Japanese icon reached the US Open semi-finals last year, and has carried that momentum into the 2026 season.

She laid out her title credentials with a three-set victory over the impressive rising star Iva Jovic in the third round, and continued to dazzle the Paris crowd with her outfit choice - which she will presumably continue to do, given Monday will mark her first match of the tournament on Court Philippe-Chatrier.

Sabalenka was keen to credit Osaka when she visited the TNT Sports studio following her victory against Kasatkina.

"She’s been really great," said the world No. 1. "I feel like she’s improving every time I see her play and she’s a great player, great fighter. We had a really tough battle in Madrid. I’m super excited to face her and I’m ready to fight for it."

Elsewhere on Monday, the wide-open men's draw will take further shape with the likes of Felix Auger-Aliassime, Flavio Cobolli and Frances Tiafoe in action.

With Jannik Sinner having already exited, and Carlos Alcaraz absent, the men's draw is guaranteed a new Grand Slam champion.

When is Sabalenka v Osaka?

Sabalenka and Osaka will do battle in the evening slot on Court Philippe-Chatrier. Play is expected to get underway at around 19:15 BST.

The pair have already met twice this season, at Indian Wells and on clay in Madrid. Sabalenka won both, but the latter by a far more competitive scoreline, which saw Osaka clinch a first-set tie-break.

They will be playing for a quarter-final against either Madison Keys or Diana Shnaider.

When does Auger-Aliassime play?

The No. 4 seed at Roland-Garros does not have a particularly storied history on the Paris clay but could be among the beneficiaries to make a title tilt in the absence of the top two in the world.

He will be the heavy favourite to come through his fourth-round clash against Chilean Alejandro Tabilo, who dispatched French 17-year-old Moise Kouame on Saturday.

They face off in the third match of the day on Court Philippe-Chatrier, with play to get underway at around 14:30 BST.
