Carlos Alcaraz admitted that it was amazing to come back from two sets down to beat Jannik Sinner 4-6 6-7(4) 6-4 7-6(3) 7-6(2) in a thrilling French Open final.
However, the Spaniard refused to call the classic encounter the best Grand Slam final of all time, insisting it fell short of Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal's iconic 2012 Australian Open clash.
Alcaraz has now claimed back-to-back titles at Roland Garros, while his Italian rival is still on the hunt for his first triumph on the iconic clay courts.
He was delighted to win a five-set match from 2-0 down for the first time in his career.
"It was amazing," he said during an exclusive interview with TNT Sports.
"To put it into words is really difficult honestly. To come from two sets down against the world No. 1, the level that he was playing, it is unbelievable.
"It was the first time that I have come back from 2-0 down and honestly I just put my heart into it. I just tried to keep it going, not thinking about the result.
"I think to say it was one of the best finals in the history of the Grand Slams is really high status. I have to say, there have been better finals.
"I am going to say one, Novak against Rafa in the final of the Australian Open. I think that level of final is pretty high, I am just really happy to put my name in one of the best finals."

The victory means Alcaraz has won all of his last five meetings with Sinner.
The Spaniard suffered a slow start to the match, losing the opening two sets. However, he showed immense heart to retain his title.
Alcaraz believes that Sinner will go on to win several French Open crowns during his career.
"Jannik, it is amazing the level that you have," he said during his post-match speech. I know the hard work that you put in every day, it is huge.
"I know how hard you are chasing this tournament, every tournament, I am sure you going to be champion.
"Not just once but many many times, it is a privilege to share the court with you."

Sinner was gracious in defeat but admitted that he would struggle to sleep tonight after letting a two-set lead slip.
"We tried our best today, we gave everything we had," said the three-time Grand Slam winner.
"It is still an amazing tournament even though it is very difficult right now.
"It is a big privilege for us players to be here and to play here.
"Paris for me is a very special place and I have achieved many great things here. I am still happy with this one [his trophy].
"It is an amazing trophy. I won't sleep great tonight but it is ok."
