He may be through to the French Open semi-finals but AC Milan fan Jannik Sinner was happy to talk football when asked about his club possibly signing legendary midfielder Luka Modric. The Italian was in a positive mood during his press conference after beating Alexander Bublik, and believes the Rossoneri would be getting "one of the best players in the world" should they snap up the 39-year-old.

Jannik Sinner believes his beloved AC Milan would be signing "one of the best players in the world" if they capture the signature of Luka Modric.
The 39-year-old has been strongly linked with the Serie A giants, as he looks for a new club after ending his 13-year stay at Real Madrid where he won 28 trophies including six UEFA Champions League titles.
The Rossoneri have this week appointed Massimiliano Allegri after a dismal campaign in which they finished eighth in the league.
"Yeah, I don't want to look like I'm someone who knows football very, very well, but the individual players we have, it's very high," smiled Sinner when asked about the possibility of Modric joining Milan during his press conference following his French Open victory over Alexander Bublik.
"The quality we have, it's amazing. I have become [sic] a Milan fan back in the days when I left my home, and I was in the apartment with another younger player. He was two years younger than me, and he was a Milan fan.
"Every time they were playing, we had to watch the match, because we had only one television.
"And then, you know, we kept going, and from that point I was, like, ‘okay, I'm going to choose AC Milan’, and then from that point I have always been a Milan fan.
"Let's see who they sign. It would be good. I know Luka is such an experienced and obviously one of the best players in the world, so it would be good."

'Very happy' Sinner looking forward to 'special' semi-final at Roland-Garros

Despite making the semi-finals, Sinner has yet to be truly tested at Roland-Garros so far. He needed just one hour and 51 minutes to see off Bublik, beating the Kazakh 6-1 7-5 6-0.
The Italian will meet the winner of Alexander Zverev and Novak Djokovic in Wednesday’s late match, as he looks to win his second Grand Slam of the year following his Australian Open triumph in January.
It has been a year of mixed fortunes for Sinner so far, with the 23-year-old accepting a three-month ban following a settlement with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) after he tested positive for a banned substance.
"I'm just happy to be in the semis and see what I can do. Last year I played a good match in the semis, so I'm proud to be again here," said Sinner.
"I wouldn't have thought to be here in this position since my comeback, so I'm very happy to take things like they are, and hopefully I'm ready.
"I just want to watch my side of the net, and then we see."

There is also the possibility of an all-Italian final - should Lorenzo Musetti upset world No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz and Sinner comes through his last-four match on Friday, all of which are live on TNT Sports and discovery+.
"Lorenzo, actually I think he just texted me, if I haven't seen wrong. It's good, you know," Sinner added.
"We support each other very well. We know each other obviously much better now because of playing the Davis Cup together, and we have a good relationship off the court.
"So let's see, you know. It would be nice, of course. It's something I believe we would like to make that happen, but in the other way, he has a very, very tough match.
"I have a very, very tough match, and if things go well, good. If not, doesn't matter. You know, there are so many big tournaments coming up. Maybe we can make that happen one day.
"But I just wish him only the best. You know, stay healthy, to be relaxed.
"As I have always said, he has found good stability, you know, off court, and you can see that on court.
"He's an amazing player. A top-five player now. I’m very happy for him, and he's reaching for more."
