Emma Raducanu's time in Montreal came to an abrupt halt following a straight-sets defeat to Wimbledon finalist Amanda Anisimova. After winning both of her previous two encounters against the American, Raducanu showed few signs of extending that run in Canada on Saturday evening. Raducanu's US Open preparations will continue at another WTA 1000 event in Cincinnati.

Emma Raducanu was knocked out of the National Bank Open in Montreal following a 6-2 6-1 third-round defeat to this year's Wimbledon finalist Amanda Anisimova.
Anisimova powered her way to victory after just one hour and five minutes of play, setting up a fourth-round clash against Elina Svitolina.
It was a sobering evening for Raducanu, who suffered her first defeat to the American after only managing to hold her serve twice across both sets.
The British No. 1 was broken in the second game of the opener, and despite breaking back, Anisimova established a double break to go 3-1 ahead.
From there onwards, it was plain-sailing for the world No. 7, taking a triple break on her second set point to draw first blood.
The American was even more dominant in the second set, breaking Raducanu at the first opportunity again to go 2-0 ahead.
A double break followed at 4-0, with a bagel looking a distinct possibility until the Brit claimed a hold to 30 at 5-1.
However, it only prolonged the inevitable, as Anisimova claimed an emphatic hold to love to seal her place in the last 16.
This was the 23-year-old's 50th win at WTA 1000 level, and she is only the ninth American to reach that landmark since the format was introduced 16 years ago.
The signs are ominous when Anisimova takes the first set, with this her 29th consecutive victory after taking the opener at WTA level.
Raducanu, meanwhile, will now head south of the border to compete at another WTA 1000 event in Cincinnati.
The Brit can take advantage of some time off after being handed a first-round bye.
Elsewhere, Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek made light work of Germany's Eva Lys with a 6-2 6-2 win.

But it was not such good news for defending Montreal champion Jessica Pegula, who was seeking to win this event for a third consecutive year.
The world No. 4 was defeated by Anastasija Sevastova, as the Latvian claimed a memorable 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 win.
