VAN DER POEL: IT WAS ABOUT TIME I WON ANOTHER ONE
It was super difficult. The final was actually harder than I thought. I was really motivated, finally, after I think four years since I won my first stage on the Tour de France. It was about time I won another one. Of course people put me as the favorite, but if you see which riders were on the front on the climbs I did a really good job to be there. I thought Jasper would have a chance but the climbs were harder than I expected. It was a really hard pace as well - there was maybe eight guys left on top at the end. It was a really hard, nervous day. It's a dream start for a team. Everything that comes now is a bonus.

JASPER PHILIPSEN: WITH A LEADER LIKE MATHIEU IT MAKES THE WORK EASIER
"[Mathieu] was incredibly strong. I felt a bit less from yesterday, which was an incredibly tough day. I'm so glad he could take the win, the second one in a row for our team. I think everyone got a lot of confidence from yesterday. It wasn't easy but with a strong leader like Mathieu it makes the work much easier. I'm happy we could keep yellow in the team."

5. Julian Alaphilippe
2. Tadej Pogacar
3. Jonas Vingegaard
4. Romain Gregoire
5. Julian Alaphilippe
And Remco Evenepoel loses more time, at least from bonuses. Whether he was gapped we'll wait to find out. He wasn't in the top ten.

MATHIEU VAN DER POEL WINS STAGE 2 AND IS THE NEW MAILLOT JAUNE!
Even Tadej Pogacar, right on his wheel to the end, could not deny him. Van der Poel led and then kicked with 100m to go. He was unmatchable.

500M TO GO: VAN DER POEL IS LOOKING GOOD
What power does he have left? It's going to be a big finish.
16:37
16:37
FLAMME ROUGE: NO PANIC FROM POGACAR AND UAE
They're present in numbers. Big effort from Almeida. Roglic can play passenger as they close on his team-mate.
16:35
16:35
2KM TO GO: A MOVE FROM LIPOWITZ
Just across the bridge and the left turn, ahead of the final rise to the finish.
16:34
16:34
4KM TO GO: VAUQUELIN AND JORGENSEON WITH A SMALL GAP
And an IPT rider looking to make it a trio. I think Philipsen and the yellow jersey is gone.
16:33
16:33
5KM TO GO: VAUQUELIN RIDES HARD OVER THE TOM
And suddenly Vingegaard is going for it. He's like a changed man. Evenepoel and Pogacar are shadowing him, alert to everything.
16:31
16:31
6KM TO GO: VAN DER POEL INDECISIVE
He finds himself at the front and unsure whether to press on or not. He glances behind and eases up as they grind across the final categorized climb of the day. Twenty or so riders at the front now, with Jhonatan Narvaez doing what he did at the Dauphine.
16:28
16:28
8.6KM TO GO: POGACAR WITH TWO POINTS
First at the KOM line, he might not be in yellow at the end of today, but it's looking like he'll be in spots. It doesn't look like they're motivated to push on as they did at the Dauphine, but Romain Gregoire seems most keen to.
16:27
16:27
9KM TO GO: JORGENSON WINDS IT UP
It's really stringing out in the final few hundred of this climb. Six riders, Van Aert not with them, with a bit of a gap now.
16:26
16:26
9.8KM TO GO: ONTO THE COTE DE SAINT-ETIENNE-AU-MONT
A thousand meters at 9.8%, Visma and Groupama are absolutely going for it. Van der Poel is there, out of the saddle, Benoot takes control. Pogacar and Vingegaard are where you'd expect.
16:22
16:22
13KM TO GO: EF KEEPING THE PACE HIGH
Will Ben Healy be able to do something? QuickStep are there and there are hints that Remco could be about to kick things off.
16:18
16:18
16KM TO GO: BENJAMIN THOMAS EMERGES IN POLKA DOTS
He's up against it to hold on to them but expect him to give it all he's got. That's definitely his finish line. It's going to be full gas to the top of the Cote de Saint-Etienne-au-Mont. There's already a massive battle for the front row, more than 6km out from the climb.
16:15
16:15
20KM TO GO: UP TO 70KPH ON THE WIDE DOWNHILL
It's on like Donkey Kong. Two climbs to come.
16:07
16:07
26KM TO GO: MOST OF THE BUNCH BACK TOGETHER
Still a few off the back, but all the main names are up there. It's so nervy across these narrow lanes. As Matthews says, it's just repeated fights for position and then an easing, following by another acceleration. They're using every inch of the road and more. Another category three is coming up.
