BRIGHTON COME FROM TWO GOALS DOWN TO REACH FIRST EVER WOMEN'S FA CUP FINAL

Brighton & Hove Albion will play in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup final for the first time after coming from 2-0 down to beat Liverpool 3-2, thanks to a late Nadine Noordam winner.

Both sides started positively but the hosts looked more threatening and found an opener when Ceri Holland’s cross was nodded home for Denise O’Sullivan, minutes after she had missed a similar chance.

The Reds kept the pressure up and got a well-deserved second when Holland’s cross was not cleared and Beata Olsson curled a loose ball into the top corner.

However, Brighton punished lax defending from a corner barely a minute later, as the ball fell to Manuela Vanegas, who converted from close range after the ball bounced kindly to her.

Brighton grew into the game more, but Liverpool nearly restored their two-goal lead late in the first half when Alejandra Bernabe’s half-volley clipped the crossbar on its way over.

The Seagulls immediately went on the front foot in the second period, as Fran Kirby hit the post from a tight angle after pouncing on Kiko Seike’s cross.

Five minutes later, the equaliser came as Madison Haley outjumped Risa Shimizu to head home another Seike cross.

Brighton pushed hard for a winner, but could not find away past Jennifer Falk, who made big saves and commanded the penalty area well to frustrate the visitors.

Liverpool then threatened in the closing minutes and Kirsty MacLean had a speculative penalty shout turned down, while Aurelie Csillag spurned a one-on-one chance.

However, Brighton found the sucker punch at the death as Liverpool failed to properly clear a free-kick and Noordam smashed home in the dying seconds.

Brighton will face either Chelsea or Manchester City in the final, live on TNT Sports and HBO Max, and have now gone unbeaten in their last seven matches.
