Bayern Munich youngster Lennart Karl has added to the anticipation before Tuesday night's UEFA Champions League quarter-final, first leg away to Real Madrid with a statement of intent after scoring the winning goal in Saturday's 3-2 Bundesliga win versus Freiburg. The teenager said Vincent Kompany's Bayern feel "unbeatable" as they head to the Bernabeu for a game that will be live on TNT Sports.

Bayern Munich feel "unbeatable" before their UEFA Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid, according to youngster Lennart Karl.

The 18-year-old scored a dramatic injury-time winner on Saturday as Bayern came from 2-0 down at Freiburg to win 3-2 and move closer to the Bundesliga title.

And, before the first leg at the Bernabeu on Tuesday night - live on TNT Sports and HBO Max - Karl highlighted the positive mindset among Bayern's players.

”We’ve talked in the locker room about how this victory gives us a lot of confidence for the game in Madrid,” Karl said.

”It’s very important to have won. In fact, right now we feel unbeatable."

While Bayern took another step towards domestic success, Real Madrid were dealt a blow in La Liga as they fell to a 2-1 defeat away to Real Mallorca.

Returning defender Eder Militao appeared to have earned Los Blancos a point when he equalised in the 89th minute but striker Vedat Muriqi scored two minutes later to give his side a shock victory.

Alvaro Arbeloa's side have fared better in Europe, beating Manchester City 5-1 on aggregate in the last 16 to set up the Bayern tie.

But Vincent Kompany's team have been prolific in front of goal all season, thrashing Atalanta 10-2 on aggregate in the last 16.

Bayern could yet be without Harry Kane, who is an injury doubt, but Jamal Musiala made an appearance off the bench having not featured since the first leg against Atalanta on March 10.

Karl, meanwhile, got his first taste of being a match-winner as he netted for the ninth time in all competitions this season.

”A very, very intense feeling for me. I’d been thinking the whole time about taking off my jersey, and then it actually happened. Then I scored the goal, and that’s when things really took off,” he said.

”I’ve always had it in my mind to score a late winner and take off my shirt. Thankfully it worked out, an incredible feeling. I had a bit of a feeling that I was going to score today. It happened and it was perfect.”
