Eintracht Frankfurt 1-5 Liverpool result - Hugo Ekitike, Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Cody Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai secure much-needed win

Hugo Ekitike returned to haunt his former club as Liverpool came from behind to win 5-1 at Eintracht Frankfurt and put an emphatic end to their four-match losing streak.

The Merseysiders fell behind for a fifth straight game when Rasmus Kristensen drilled a low shot into the far corner on 26 minutes.

The visitors replied when Ekitike, who joined the Merseysiders from the Bundesliga outfit for an initial £69m fee in the summer, raced on to Andy Robertson’s pass and coolly fired past Michael Zetterer.

Arne Slot's men then took charge going into the break as first Virgil van Dijk and then Ibrahima Konate powered home a pair of headers from corners.

Liverpool completely bossed the second half with Florian Wirtz chalking up a brace of assists; first laying on a tap-in for Cody Gakpo before teeing up Dominik Szoboszlai to rifle in from 25 yards.

The result moves Liverpool up to 10th spot in the UEFA Champions League group stage with two wins from three outings. Frankfurt are three points further back in 22nd place.

Next up, Liverpool visit Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday evening. Frankfurt host St Pauli earlier that day in the Bundesliga.

Farès Chaïbi escapes down the left, jinks inside and thunders a sizzling strike just wide of the far post.

Salah chases a pass into the left side of the area and forces a save from a tough angle.

The flag then goes up so it would not have counted, but it was lively from the Egyptian who will be eager to make an impact after being left out of the starting XI.

Wirtz rolls a simple ball to Szoboszlai who rasps a brilliant low 25-yarder into the corner.

The fourth surely kills off Frankfurt's slim hopes.

To be fair, the visitors have bossed this second half and could have scored more.
