BARCELONA BLAST PAST NEWCASTLE WITH DAZZLING SECOND-HALF DISPLAY
Barcelona overpowered Newcastle, scoring four unanswered second-half goals, to book their place in the quarter-finals and dump the Magpies out of the UEFA Champions League.
The hosts, who had won all 12 matches at Camp Nou since moving back in after renovation, got off to a flyer when Raphinha curled past Aaron Ramsdale after Lewis Hall slipped to let him in on goal.
However, Hall made up for his error soon after when his cross split open the Barcelona defence and found Anthony Elanga, who lifted the ball over Joan Garcia.

Minutes later, Marc Bernal tapped home from close range after Gerard Martin had headed a free-kick across the gace of goal.
Elanga got his second of the night, again from a ground cross, this time courtesy of Harvey Barnes, to make it 2-2 after just half an hour.
A frenetic first half was capped off when Raphinha won a penalty after he was pulled back by Kieran Trippier, following a VAR review.

Trippier was fortunate not to see red for the challenge, but Lamine Yamal slotted the penalty past Ramsdale, who got a glove on it, to provide ample damage to Eddie Howe’s side.
The hosts raced out of the block in the second half and Fermin Lopez got a crucial fourth goal, latching onto Raphinha’s through ball and showed composure with his finish.
Robert Lewandowski was not going to miss out on the goals, getting two in five minutes – a header from a corner, and a close-range strike after some wonderful skill from Yamal.

Raphinha put the icing on the cake with his second of the night, gathering Jacob Ramsey’s misplaced pass before curling home to make it seven.
Barcelona, who could face Arsenal in the semi-finals, will now meet Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals.
Newcastle now have just the Premier League to focus on and take on local rivals Sunderland this weekend.

Managing to hold Barcelona, PSG and Bayer Leverkusen to draws helped them perform admirably in in the tournament, but in the end this was one step too far.
As for Barca, they will face the winner of Atletico Madrid v Spurs, live on TNT Sports, and will take on Arsenal in the semi-final, should both sides win their quarter-final matches.
