Manchester United had a bright moment as they beat Real Sociedad 4-1, 5-2 on aggregate, to reach the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League. United will next play Lyon in the last eight next month, in a tie to be shown on TNT Sports and discovery+. Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim says the club needs to help captain Bruno Fernandes win more titles.

Fernandes scored a hat-trick as United beat Real Sociedad 4-1 at Old Trafford on Thursday night, for a 5-2 aggregate win and a place in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League.

Amorim's team will now face Lyon in the last eight next month, in a tie to be shown on TNT Sports and discovery+.

And the United boss wants more glory for his star man, saying: "It is hard for a player like Bruno. Sometimes he wants to win too much - that's not a bad thing.

"He doesn't trust in the team-mates and he can show that frustration, but he is always there.

"He can do set-pieces, he can score penalties with high pressure, he can make transitions. It is perfect for us and we need to help him win titles as he deserves it.

"Sometimes I need this team to take the ball to the last third so I try to use Bruno. Bruno near the box is so dangerous."

It has been a tough season for United, who are currently 14th in the Premier League and were recently knocked out of the FA Cup by Fulham.

The Europa League offers their last chance of silverware and Amorim knows the importance of the competition.

Next comes Lyon for his team - with the first leg in France on April 10 - and Amorim is expecting a physical contest.

"We have a lot of games in the Premier League. In my head we are going to use every minute to improve the team," he added.

"Against Lyon it will be a different game, the physicality is there.

"They play in a league which is so physical. It doesn't have the same quality, but it is going to be a different game."

United will next go to Leicester for a Premier League game on Sunday night, their last match before the international break.
