Burnley have signed defender Bashir Humphreys from Chelsea on a season-long loan with the option to buy. The England Under-21 international spent the previous campaign at another Championship side in Swansea. It is reported Humphreys would cost the early second-tier pacesetters around £15m next summer, should they make the deal permanent.

Bashir Humphreys has joined Burnley on a season-long loan from Chelsea, in a move which could become permanent next summer.
The England Under-21 defender, who has only made two senior appearances for his parent club - both in cup games - is one of a number of players expected to leave the Blues' bloated Premier League squad before next Friday’s transfer deadline.
Humphreys, a highly-rated centre-back who spent last season on loan at Swansea, previously also had a temporary spell at SC Paderborn in Germany.
Burnley have an option to buy the 21-year-old next summer, for a fee which is reported to be in the region of £15m.
The early Championship pacesetters, who have scored nine goals in just two league wins under new manager and former Chelsea midfielder Scott Parker, could soon lose midfielder Sander Berge, who is understood to be on the verge of a return to the top flight with another of Parker's former clubs Fulham.
Burnley, who have a reputation for their creative signing announcement videos, used a clip from Lord of the Rings to confirm the Humphreys transfer with the caption ‘you shall not pass’, a catchphrase of the character Gandalf, played by Burnley native Sir Ian McKellen.
“It feels great, it’s an amazing club. It makes so much sense for the next step in my career," Humphreys told the club website.
“Burnley is a club with huge ambitions, the owners know what they’re doing, and they really want to push the club on as much as possible.”
“The Gaffer here is great. I had really good conversations with him and that’s always pivotal when it comes to transfers.
"It was completely perfect, everything he was saying to me. He knew about my game; he wants to work with me and help me improve. That’s all you want to hear as a player.”
