Scott Parker departs Burnley by mutual consent with club having been relegated from Premier League - 'I reflect back with great pride'

Parker took over from Vincent Kompany in 2024 and guided Burnley to promotion to the Premier League in his first season.

However, the Clarets have won just four top-flight games and their relegation was confirmed following a home defeat to Manchester City last week.

A statement from Burnley said: ”Following confirmation of the club's relegation from the Premier League last week, Parker and the board held discussions and mutually agreed that his time at Turf Moor would conclude.

”The club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Scott for his professionalism, dedication and contribution. He leaves with the respect and gratitude of everyone connected with Burnley Football Club.”

Burnley hit the 100-point mark in the Championship last season as they lost just two matches and finished behind champions Leeds on goal difference.

They went on a 33-match unbeaten run and kept a remarkable 30 clean sheets.

However, they have struggled to compete in the Premier League and have conceded more goals (68) than any other side in the division.

Parker said: "It has been an immense privilege to lead this great club over the past two years. I have enjoyed every moment of our journey together, but feel that now is the right time for both parties to move in a different direction.

"I reflect back with great pride on what we achieved during my time at the club, especially our unforgettable promotion season in 2024/25, and it was a true honour to lead this team into the Premier League.

"I would like to thank Alan [Pace, chairman] and the ownership group for their support during my time at the club. My thanks also go to the fantastic and tireless staff behind the scenes and, most importantly, to the players, who have given me everything since the first day I arrived.

"Finally, thank you to the Burnley fans. I wish you all and this great club nothing but the very best for the future."

Mike Jackson will take interim charge for the last four games of the season, starting with Friday's match at Leeds United.

Burnley beat Leeds in the reverse fixture in October and followed up with victory over fellow strugglers Wolves.

But they have won just one league game since - a 3-2 victory over Crystal Palace in February - as they have slid towards relegation.

They could still have a say in the title race as they face leaders Arsenal on May 18.

The club say the process of appointing a new permanent head coach ahead of the 2026/27 season has started.
