After recording their lowest ever Premier League finish in 15th last season, Ruben Amorim will be striving for change in his first full season in charge at Old Trafford. We have been looking at how their season starts and finishes as they kick things off at home to Arsenal, before there is an early Manchester derby and tricky trips to Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur before Christmas.

Manchester United will begin the 2025/26 campaign at home to last season's runners-up Arsenal, before taking on Fulham and Burnley before the end of August.

The first Manchester derby and daunting trips to Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur come before Christmas, ahead of a difficult start to 2026.

United begin the new year against rivals Leeds, before having to face Manchester City and a return trip to The Gunners.

When is the Manchester derby?

The first meeting between Manchester United and Manchester City will happen at Etihad Stadium on the weekend of September 13, with the return fixture at Old Trafford is scheduled for the weekend of January 17.

Despite enduring a poor 2024/25 season, they did not lose to their local rivals, winning 2-1 at City, before a goalless draw at Old Trafford.

When is Man Utd v Liverpool?

It has long been one of the Premier League's great fixtures, and although champions Liverpool were streets ahead of The Red Devils last season, it will be a much-anticipated fixture again this season.

The teams meet at Anfield on the weekend of October 18, before the return at Old Trafford will happen on the weekend of May 2 - the fourth from last game of the campaign.

When did Man Utd last win the Premier League?

After finishing 15th and eighth in their last two seasons, Premier League glory is a distant memory for many United fans.

The 2012/13 season marks the last time United got their hands on the trophy, with Sir Alex Ferguson's side - which featured Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and Robin van Persie - beating defending champions Man City to the title.

They finished 11 points ahead of their local rivals and won the league with four games to spare.

Are Man Utd playing in Europe this season?

Amorim's side failed to qualify for European competition for the 2025/26 season.

A 15th-place finish in the Premier League meant they could not qualify through the league.

Ruben Amorim's side had the chance to reach the UEFA Champions League by winning the UEFA Europa League final.

However, a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in Bilbao means United will be without European football for the first time since 2014/15.
