DOWMAN MAKES PREMIER LEAGUE HISTORY AS ARSENAL MOVE 10 POINTS CLEAR
Max Dowman became the Premier League's youngest-ever goalscorer as his stoppage-time strike rounded off a very hard-fought 2-0 victory over Everton.
Viktor Gyokeres broke the deadlock in the 89th minute to break The Toffees' stubborn resistance before Dowman slotted the ball into an empty net in the seventh minute of stoppage time to rubber stamp all three points.
The Gunners were left frustrated for most of the evening by a resolute Everton side who performed admirably with a central defensive pairing of Jake O'Brien and Michael Keane.
The visitors were perhaps arguably lucky not to have conceded a penalty before the break, with Keane appearing to step on Kai Havertz's heel in the box.
Everton carried a threat of their own though - particularly in the first half - as Dwight McNeil rattled the post in what was the best chance of the match for David Moyes' side.
However, the introductions of Dowman and Gyokeres would prove to be telling in turning the tide of the match in Arsenal's favour.
Dowman's cross caused panic inside the Everton defence with Pickford left stranded, allowing Piero Hincapie to play in Gyokeres to slot the ball into an empty net.
With Everton going all out in pursuit of a late equaliser, Gabriel Martinelli fed in Dowman to slot the ball home with the goal gaping.
Wild celebrations ensued, as Arsenal moved 10 points clear of Manchester City before their clash with West Ham United on Saturday night - live on TNT Sports and discovery+.
