ARSENAL EXTEND LEAD AT THE TOP AFTER GOALLESS DRAW AT HOME TO LIVERPOOL
Arsenal moved six points clear at the Premier League summit despite being held to a 0-0 draw at home to reigning champions Liverpool.
The hosts were frustrated in a tight first half with the visitors’ Conor Bradley going closest to breaking the deadlock with a lob that came back off the crossbar.
Liverpool were the dominant force throughout the second half but lacked the killer touch in the absence of the likes of Hugo Ekitike, Alexander Isak and Mo Salah.
Arsenal’s first attempts of the second half came in the final moments, but they could not find a smash and grab winner at the death.
The result means The Gunners don’t quite take advantage of slips by nearest rivals Manchester City and Aston Villa on Wednesday night. Liverpool sit 14 points further back in fourth spot but have now stretched their unbeaten run to 10 matches.
Next up, Arsenal visit Portsmouth in the FA Cup on Sunday, while Liverpool host Barnsley on Monday evening.

FORMER ENGLAND INTERNATIONAL GARY NEVILLE REACTS TO THE STALEMATE
"They [Liverpool] set out their stall early with a real defensive shape, man-to-man marking," said Neville on Sky Sports. "The big surprise is that they were able to flip from that into a really good, strong possession-based and dominant second-half performance. They always lacked firepower up front, but that’s understandable. No Isak, no Ekitike up front, no Salah.
"It was a frustrating night for Mikel Arteta. His team were well off it, but he'll still be proud they kept a clean sheet and that’s something they have going for them, they are a hard team to play against."
