West Ham slumped to a 3-0 defeat at London rivals Brentford as Tottenham Hotspur's Premier League survival hopes were boosted without kicking a ball on Saturday.

A win for Nuno Espirito Santo's side would have seen them move five points clear of Spurs, who face a daunting trip to Aston Villa on Sunday night, live at 19:00 on TNT Sports and HBO Max.

But it was Keith Andrews' side who moved up to sixth in the table with their first home league win since January, delivered via a Konstantinos Mavropanos own goal (15'), an Igor Thiago penalty (54') and a Mikkel Damsgaard finish (82').

The second goal probably killed the visitors, with El Hadji Malick Diouf sliding into a needless late challenge on Dango Ouattara to concede the spot-kick.

It means Spurs can move out of the relegation places and a point above West Ham in 17th spot with a win at Villa Park.

West Ham will wonder how they never scored, with Konstantinos Mavropanos having an equaliser ruled out for offside, Valentín Castellanos twice hitting the post in the first half and Crysencio Summerville seeing a shot come back off the bar in the second period.

The Hammers must regroup before they host Premier League leaders Arsenal next Sunday.

"Really disappointing," he told Sky Sports. "All the goals were poor on our behalf and could've been stopped. We had chances, hit the post twice, bar and post again. We had a goal disallowed too. There were a couple of decisions that didn't go our way.

"You have to react in the right way. It's going to hurt today because like I said we had good opportunities. But what we have to do now is focus on the next games. We have three games left, and every one is a cup final.

"There's so much on the line. We can't let the last few weeks go away because of this result today. On another day, we would have got the win today. We've done a lot of good things.

"Everyone has to stick together, as cliche as it sounds. We've got a really good group.

"It's down to the senior players to stand up. We can't dwell on this. We have to move forward because there's no other way."
