Crystal Palace 0-1 Tottenham result - Archie Gray heads first senior goal as Thomas Frank’s Lilywhites edge to narrow derby win at Selhurst Park

Archie Gray headed the winner as Tottenham ended 2025 on a high with a 1-0 victory at out-of-sorts Crystal Palace.

The 19-year-old nodded in his first ever senior goal just before half-time to give Thomas Frank’s side the advantage after Richarlison had a goal chalked off for offside.

Palace had been the dominant force up until that moment with Jean-Philippe Mateta heading over their best opening early on.

The Eagles pushed for an equaliser following the interval, but Justin Devenny blazed a gilt-edged chance over the crossbar while Maxence Lacroix and Marc Guehi glanced big opportunities off target.

At the other end, Richarlison saw another close-range strike ruled out by VAR late on and substitute Wilson Odobert hit the post, but there was no late twist for Spurs as they hung on to end a two-match losing run.

The result sees Tottenham move up to 11th spot - just a point behind ninth-placed Palace = who are now winless in their last five outings across all competitions.

That is the end of football in 2025 for these two teams. Both are in action next on New Year's Day, with Palace hosting Fulham in a 5:30pm game, and Spurs travelling to Fulham for an 8pm match.

"Yeah, they did enough. It was a big result for them," he said on Sky Sports.

"It was never going to be a classic because Tottenham haven’t been in the best of form. It’s been difficult. The last away game, you lose to Nottingham Forest 3-0, but I thought today – all in all – it was a really hard working display.

"I thought Richarlison – although he didn’t get the two goals because they were offside – he led the line and gave a focal point to the team. And obviously Archie Gray scoring that goal. It was a lovely moment, I think we all enjoyed that."

Henderson makes a fine save to keep out Bentancur's thunderbolt after the midfielder arrived on cue to hit a cut back from the right.

A long throw from the right causes chaos in the Spurs box, but they get enough bodies out to block Wharton's piledriver from the edge of the area.

The Romanian is back playing football again after being out with an ACL injury since late January.

Spurs are dropping deeper and deeper and there's a real urgency about the hosts as they press for a late leveller.
