OSULA SCORES LATE WINNER AS 10-MAN NEWCASTLE STUN CARRICK'S UNITED
Michael Carrick was handed his first defeat as Manchester United's interim manager with 10-man Newcastle completing a famous 2-1 Premier League victory courtesy of a wonderful last-minute William Osula winner.
Eddie Howe's side took the lead in added time in the first half as Anthony Gordon, who had been fouled by Bruno Fernandes, converted a penalty seconds after Jacob Murphy had been sent off for allegedly diving, earning a second yellow card.
Casemiro headed the visitors level in the ninth minute of added time in the first half when he rose to nod a Fernandes free-kick into the net for a fine equaliser.
Despite enjoying the numerical advantage in the second half, United struggled to cut open Newcastle, with goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale producing a brilliant stop from Joshua Zirkzee in the closing minutes.
And it was the home team who had the final say when Kieran Trippier picked out sub Osula, on for Gordon. Osula then bounded down the right flank before cutting inside to bend a brilliant swerving finish around Harry Maguire and stranded goalkeeper Senne Lammens to seal the victory.
After losing five out of their past six league games, and three at home before hosting United, the win sees Newcastle arrest the slump in moving up to 12th in the table.
But it was a bitter pill to swallow for interim United coach Carrick, who suffered a first defeat in 10 matches, with a lethargic second-half display seeing them remain third on goal difference ahead of Aston Villa.

NEWCASTLE GOALKEEPER AARON RAMSDALE SPEAKS TO TNT SPORTS
"Massive [win]," he said after his 10-man side completed an epic 2-1 victory.
"I think I saw a stat that we've not had a free midweek since the November international break.
"We've been down to our bare bones. At times, we've been working as hard as we can, but haven't got the results.
"We've got some huge games to look forward to and that's what the fans want, and it's what we want as players.
"We're not going to complain about it, but we need to stand up and be counted now.
"I've had opportunities which it's been tough to get this year and hopefully today I've helped to get three points and it's about kicking on.
"And we wanted to be resilient and with 10 men we may as well have had 13 men with the crowd.
"It's been an excellent night for us."

THERE GOES THE FINAL WHISTLE!
Tonali is down on the deck needing some medical attention. Will there be a late chance for the visitors to rescue a draw? Botman comes on for Tonali, who is carrying an injury. "Against 10 men, you would have been looking for a better level of performance," said Ally McCoist on TNT Sports. "It has been pedestrian. That's the word I would use to describe it."
