Tottenham 1-2 Aston Villa result – Visitors come from behind to snatch all three points and continue revival

Morgan Rogers and Emiliano Buendia scored brilliant goals to earn Aston Villa a deserved 2-1 victory over Tottenham.

Rodrigo Bentancur opened the scoring for the hosts after just five minutes at Tottenham Hotspur stadium, tapping home after Joao Palhinha headed across goal to get Thomas Frank's side off to a great start.

Spurs then looked to be largely in charge and were the more likely side to score a second, when out of nowhere Rogers equalised with a marvelous dipping effort that gave Gugliemo Vicario no chance.

Tottenham were again the better side for the first 30 minutes of the second half, but Villa pounced again after Matty Cash's brilliant ball over the top was touched by Lucas Digne, who laid off for Emiliano Buendia to slot it perfectly into the bottom corner.

The result sees Villa climb to 10th in the league and continue their revival. They have now gone five matches without defeat in the Premier League. The defeat means Spurs fall to sixth, slipping behind Chelsea on goal difference after they lost their second Premier League match of the season, both of which have come at home.

Villa will now travel to the Netherlands with a bit of spring in their step after a massive away win when they take on Go Ahead Eagles in the UEFA Europa League, which can be seen live on TNT Sports and discovery+.

Spurs have returned slowly after the international break but have no time to rest on their laurels, as they head to Monaco in the UEFA Champions League, which is also live on TNT Sports and discovery+.

That win takes Aston Villa into 10th, with their third win in a row in the Premier League.

Emiliano Buendia from absolutely nothing with a spectacular strike, Matty Cash lumps the ball forward and Lucas Digne touches it down with panache to lay off Buendia.

The Argentine then duly delivers with a brilliant finish into the bottom corner and Villa lead!

Kevin Danso, not for the first time today, is late to tackle Lucas Digne and treads on his foot.

It is deemed a bookable offence by Simon Hooper, so that is both Spurs center backs in the book now.

Everytime Tottenham are looking for something, they look towards Mohammed Kudus and again he takes on three men, gets into a dangerous position before Villa defenders re-assemble and the ball goes out for a throw in.

Both managers make changes to their attack, with Richarlison replacing Mathys Tel for Spurs and Ollie Watkins coming on for Donyell Malen.
