Tottenham 1-1 Wolves result - Joao Palhinha rescues Spurs with stoppage-time stunner against Premier League's bottom club

It was anything but pretty, but Tottenham Hotspur earned a point with almost the last kick of the game in a 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Joao Palhinha took centre stage with a superb, controlled finish from the edge of the box that flew past Sam Johnstone to earn Spurs a hard-earned point against the Premier League's bottom club.

The hosts were succumbing to a second defeat of the season to a Wolves side who have enjoyed their fair share of success against the north Londoners in recent years.

In fact, this result ensures Wolves have only lost two of their previous nine Premier League visits to Tottenham (W4, D3), but Vitor Pereira's side will return north thinking about what might have been.

After riding their luck at times in the first half, Santiago Bueno gave the visitors a 54th-minute lead with a scrappy close-range finish that left a lot to be desired from Tottenham's defending.

Wolves were holding off Spurs with relative ease, restricting Thomas Frank's side to harmless long-range efforts, until Palhinha's strike.

The result means Pereira's side remain bottom and are still winless after six Premier League games, but they at least have their first point on the board this season.

Meanwhile, Spurs sit third and are four points adrift of leaders Liverpool.

That's harsh on Wolves, as Spurs claim a share of the spoils right at the death!

You can sense the frustration in the crowd, with Wolves looking very confident here.

They certainly don't look like a side without a point from their five previous Premier League games.
