With the 33-year-old set to leave on a free transfer this summer, here are some potential options for where Salah might decide to ply his trade next.

Mohamed Salah announced his exit from Liverpool on Tuesday, bringing to an end one of the most successful spells the Premier League has ever seen.

Salah has so far racked up 255 goals and plenty of trophies during his time on Merseyside.

Transfer experts Alex Crook, Ben Jacobs and Fabrizio Romano have all reported that Salah will be allowed to leave on a free transfer, despite his deal at Anfield previously running until 2027.

Saudi Arabia

Salah has long been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.

The rumours picked up a head of steam in 2025 with Salah’s contract at Liverpool running down, but he instead chose to sign a new deal to stay at Anfield.

But now, with Salah confirming he will be looking for a new club, Saudi Arabia could resurface as a possible destination for the forward.

In fact, as recently as December, reports suggested that Saudi Pro League clubs could offer around £100 million for Salah. Those same clubs will certainly be interested with the Egypt icon now set to cost nothing.

MLS

Another potential destination for Salah could be Major League Soccer (MLS) in the US.

And according to the BBC, a move to MLS is a ”possible option” for Salah this summer. To add to that, The Independent reports that a move to MLS is ”currently seen as the most attractive choice” by Salah.

The move to the US is a common one for players in their twilight years and MLS clubs are not afraid to make moves for big signings.

Just this week, Antoine Griezmann agreed to move to Orlando City. Elsewhere, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez play for Inter Miami, Thomas Muller is at Vancouver Whitecaps and Heung-Min Son joined LAFC last year.

Galatasaray

Known for attracting wantaway stars to Istanbul, a move to Galatasaray could make perfect sense for Salah to consider.

The Turkish club have been a destination for players approaching the later years of their careers, with their ability to offer big wages and UEFA Champions League football.

Recent examples of attackers Galatasaray have brought to the club include Victor Osimhen, Mauro Icardi, Leroy Sane and Didier Drogba.

So could Salah be the next to trod that famous path?

In December last year, reports suggested Galatasaray were preparing a sensational offer to sign Salah in the January transfer window.

Barcelona

Barcelona is another club who have previously been linked with a move for Salah.

Reports in 2024 stated that Barcelona had entered the race to sign Salah, before he ultimately remained at Liverpool.

The Catalan giants are no strangers to signing older attackers - look at Robert Lewandowski - so could we see Salah swapping Liverpool for Barcelona?

But with a young crop of superstars in the form of Pedri, Lamine Yamal, Alejandro Balde, Fermin Lopez and Pau Cubarsi, Salah might not fit into the club’s forward-thinking strategy.
