The Premier League fixtures for the 2026/27 season have been announced, but what are the key matches to look ahead to on the calendar as Mikel Arteta's Arsenal look to defend their title and promoted sides, led by Coventry City, seek to solidify their top-flight statuses?

We take a closer look at the notable matches across the season, including the opening day, Boxing Day and the final day, as well as the 'big six' meetings.
The following fixtures will no doubt be decisive come the end of what promises to be another captivating Premier League season.
Premier League 2026/27 opening day
Champions Arsenal begin the Premier League season at home to Championship title winners Coventry City on Friday, August 21.
Manchester United travel to Hull City on Saturday, August 22 for the first live match on TNT Sports and HBO Max.
Roberto De Zerbi's Tottenham Hotspur begin their season with a trip to Brentford, while Manchester City host Bournemouth and Liverpool go to St James' Park on Sunday, August 23.
The final match of the opening weekend sees Chelsea make the short trip to face Fulham at Craven Cottage on Monday, August 24.

Premier League 2026/27 big six clashes
There is an early clash of London giants as Arsenal host Xabi Alonso's Chelsea at The Emirates on September 5.
The first Manchester derby of the season comes soon after, with United taking on a Pep Guardiola-less City at Old Trafford on September 12.
After the new, prolonged international break, Liverpool, with Andoni Iraola at the helm, face Man City on October 10, with United up against Spurs the same weekend.
The latest iteration of the Battle of the Bridge will take place on October 24 as Chelsea meet Spurs, before the Blues host United on October 31.
That could be a fascinating Halloween weekend in the Premier League, with champions Arsenal at Anfield to play Liverpool.
The first Liverpool v United clash comes on November 21, and a week later Arsenal welcome Man City to north London.
Into December and the first weekend of the month sees an exciting double-header of Chelsea v Liverpool and the first north London derby of the season.
City play Chelsea at The Etihad on December 12, followed by Arsenal v United and Liverpool v Spurs on December 19.
Into the new year, Man City host Spurs on January 2, then United play Liverpool at Old Trafford on January 23.
Arsenal travel to Manchester to face City on January 30 in what has become one of the key Premier League fixtures in recent seasons.
The Gunners have to follow up the City clash with a home game against Liverpool in the first weekend of February, while United take on Chelsea.
On February 27, United host Arsenal and Spurs face Liverpool.
The season begins to approach its business end in March, and Chelsea play Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on March 13.
The second Manchester derby of the season is on March 20 at The Etihad.
On April 24, Chelsea face Man City, and then comes the final month of the season.
Liverpool meet Chelsea as Alonso returns to Anfield and Arsenal play rivals Spurs on May 1.
The last of the top six clashes comes on May 8, when Spurs host Chelsea and Man City take on Liverpool.

Premier League 2026/27 Boxing Day
The Boxing Day fixtures are always a subject of interest - and this season, there is a full post-Christmas schedule.
Coventry host Chelsea, Arsenal make the trip across London to play Crystal Palace, another promoted side in Hull take on Liverpool and Man City face a difficult post-Christmas trip to Newcastle.
United are at home to Nottingham Forest, and Aston Villa meet Leeds United.

Premier League 2026/27 final day
Arsenal are at home to Brighton & Hove Albion on the final day of the Premier League season - on Sunday, May 30 - and they will hope that is another celebratory occasion.
Villa face Spurs, while Chelsea host Brentford and Liverpool take on Bournemouth at Anfield.
United are also at home, against Fulham, and Man City go to the Stadium of Light to play Sunderland.

Derbies
Over on Merseyside, the first derby of the Premier League season comes on November 28 at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Newcastle United host Sunderland on the first weekend of December as they look to avenge their Tyne–Wear derby defeats of last season.
Liverpool welcome rivals Everton to Anfield on January 30, and the second Tyne-Wear derby is on May 1 at the Stadium of Light.
