Chelsea hammer Hull 4-0 to cruise through to the fifth round of the FA Cup
Liam Rosenior enjoyed a happy return to his former club thanks to a hat-trick from Pedro Neto and a goal from Estevao.
Chelsea had their first real chance of the evening after 10 minutes, when Alejandro Garnacho was released down the left-hand side before bursting into the box and firing his effort straight at Dillon Phillips, with Neto unable to convert the rebound.
Estevao had a golden opportunity to put Chelsea 1-0 up just six minutes later but also failed to convert. Mamadou Sarr played a fantastic long pass over the top of the Hull defence, Estevao brought it down wonderfully before taking it around goalkeeper Phillips with just the goal to aim at, but instead, the Brazilian fired his effort well over the crossbar.
The misses kept coming for Chelsea and next it was Liam Delap who remarkably failed to convert. The Chelsea striker pressured goalkeeper Phillips who blasted the ball straight at him, sending it spiraling towards goal. It bounced off the woodwork and down onto the goal-line. Delap, seemingly thinking it had crossed the line, raised his arm prematurely in celebration before realising it hadn’t. He then latched onto the rebound but took an eternity to shoot, allowing Phillips to smother his shot when it did come and, incredibly, the match remained 0-0.

Rosenior’s side finally found the breakthrough just a few minutes before the half. Delap held the ball up well before rolling the ball to Neto around 25-yards out, who took a good first touch before whipping a superb effort into the bottom corner past Phillips.
Chelsea were much more clinical in the second period, attacking with intent right from the beginning of the half.
Neto scored his and Chelsea’s second just six minutes into the half, sending in a vicious corner from the right-hand side which went straight in through the goalkeeper’s legs.
Less than 10 minutes later, Chelsea had their third, with the Brazilian Estevao getting on the scoresheet. Delap, once again, did brilliantly for the goal, making a great run down the right-hand side, holding off the challenge of John Egan before unselfishly rolling the ball to Estevao, who slammed home.

Neto claimed his hat-trick with Chelsea’s fourth and final goal on the night 20 minutes from time. Delap for the third time on the night, provided the assist, receiving the ball from Neto before rolling a perfect pass back to him and the Portuguese winger expertly fired home past Phillips.
Hull almost had a consolation goal in stoppage time but were denied by the woodwork. Liverpool loanee Lewis Koumas latched onto a ball over the top before poking an effort looking for the corner, but Robert Sanchez was able to dive across and get the slightest of touches to nudge it onto the post.
Chelsea coast into the fifth round of the competition and Hull City's attention now turns back towards the Championship, with the Tigers currently occupying fourth place in the league.
