Mansfield Town stun Burnley in FA Cup - How League One side 'looked more like a Premier League team' after 'riding a storm' at Turf Moor

Mansfield Town produced the story of FA Cup fourth round on Saturday as they came from behind to win at Burnley. The League One team, managed by Nigel Clough, claimed a brilliant 2-1 victory with goals from Rhys Oates and Louis Reed. Mansfield made the headlines in the fourth round of the FA Cup as they came from behind to win 2-1 at Burnley.

It was a brilliant victory for the League One side, who are through to the fifth round for the first time in more than half a century.

Josh Laurent gave Burnley the lead in the first half at Turf Moor, but goals from Rhys Oates and Louis Reed delivered a brilliant win for Nigel Clough's team.

TNT Sports pundit Fara Williams was very impressed with Mansfield, saying: "The way they managed the game, they rode a storm in that first 45.

"To come out the way they did in that second half, the group collectively, whatever was said at half-time, there was a reaction. As manager and fans, that's all you can ask for."

Former Arsenal defender and TNT Sports pundit Martin Keown says the problem for Burnley is their lack of forward power.

"Mansfield look more like a Premier League outfit," Keown said.

"The reason Burnley are not going to stay in the Premier League is they haven't got that quality in and around the box

"Just looked at it, 22 shots. Mansfield got so few shots in the game, but when they get them, they have the quality.

"What Sunderland have done is incredible, the forwards they brought into the team. [Dominic] Calvert-Lewin was an opportunity that no one else took at. Leeds took him, he's got that quality in front of goal.

"The centre-forwards give us belief in games, they score the goals that are all important, and Burnley haven't got anyone that could do that for them."

Reed's winner was terrific, a curling free-kick, which sent the travelling Mansfield fans wild with delight.

And TNT Sports pundit Aaron McLean said it was hard work on the training ground that paid off.

"Those are the moments, you work so hard in training, and he'll work so hard on the training ground for that exact moment and that's not a fluke, that you're able to place the ball down with that technique," McLean said.

"It's about whether you've got the composure and the guts to be able to do it."

Mansfield last reached the fifth round of the FA Cup in the 1974/75 season. That was the same season as Nigel Clough's legendary father Brian took over as manager of Nottingham Forest.

Garner: There was nothing for us to fear

Mansfield first-team coach Andy Garner said a lack of fear paid off for the League One side.

"Yeah we can [believe the result]," Garner said. "We said that to them at half-time, that we didn't think there was anything to fear.

"We were a little disappointed in the first half with how much we gave the ball away, especially in the final third a bit sloppy at times. We said 'let's get back into this game', and we believed we could."

On Reed's winner, Garner added: "Incredible. He's had a couple of free-kicks earlier this season.

"It was a good position in the center, and I fancied him, to be honest, to at least hit the target.

"But when it's better than that, and it goes in the top corner, it is a fantastic finish."
