Cameroon vs Morocco LIVE - Brahim Diaz and Ismael Saibari goals move Atlas Lions into first Africa Cup of Nations semi-final since 2004

Morocco’s hopes of winning a first Africa Cup of Nations in 50 years moved a step closer, as the tournament hosts booked their place in the semi-finals with a commanding 2-0 victory over Cameroon.

The Atlas Lions dominated the first half, but for all their possession, created relatively little until the 27th minute, when Brahim Diaz broke the deadlock with his fifth goal in as many games by redirecting Ayoub El Kaabi’s wayward header into the back of the net from close range.

From then on, chances were somewhat more free-flowing, although Abde Ezzalzouli and El Kaabi again failed to make the most of two good shooting chances from inside the area.

Ezzalzouli continued to be a threat after the break, when his flicked header from a Ashraf Hakimi corner landed on the roof of the net, whereas David Pagou’s side had little to write home about until Georges-Kévin Nkoudou sent a flicked header harmlessly wide.

Moments after that, Morocco doubled their lead through Ismael Saibari, who found the far bottom corner with a terrific finish after Diaz’s free-kick landed his way at the back post.

That rounded off a terrific night for Walid Regragui’s men, who did not so much as face a shot on target and will now take on either Algeria or Nigeria in the last four.

The Real Madrid man, who only switched allegiances from Spain to Morocco in 2024, has scored five goals in as many games at this tournament. It's one of the reasons his side are doing so well!

Morocco's win means they are through to a semi-final against Algeria or Nigeria, who meet in Marrakesh tomorrow.

The other last-four clash will be between Senegal, who beat Mali earlier, and one of Egypt or Ivory Coast.

The Atlas Lions have done it! Goals either side of half-time secure an incredibly comfortable victory over a Cameroon side who failed to even land a shot on target!

Morocco are through to their first semi-final since 2004. And they thoroughly deserve it.

The fans are going crazy, so are the players. The tournament hosts march on.

It was always going to happen, with the forwards they've got on the pitch and Morocco sitting deeper.

The Indomitable Lions force a couple of corners and have an Mbuemo free-kick out on the right, but none of them come to anything whatsoever.

Another remarkable night for the forward, whose opening goal was his fifth of the competition. Igamane is on in his place.

The Manchester United man finds his way into the area, but there is a wall of Morocco defenders in front of him, and they twice block his low shots

Saibari, who would be suspended for the semis if he picked up a yellow, is brought off in the closing minutes. Soufiane Rahimi replaces him, while Ezzalzouli is withdrawn too, meaning some minutes for Oussama Targhalline

A cross from deep is met by the Cameroon man, but he cannot direct his header on goal. In fact, it goes some way wide of the far post

The atmosphere in the stadium now is sensational. Everybody appears to be standing, many of those are bouncing excitedly. What a night it's been for the hosts so far.

Those substitutes are both of an attacking nature for Cameroon, but surely it is too little, too late. They have not even had a shot on target yet.

Baleba is off, with Jean Onana coming in, while Frank Magri replaces Namaso

The tournament hosts have a second! That is surely game over! Diaz's free-kick lands at the feet of Saibari at the back post. He sets himself with his first touch and then lashes a glorious finish into the far bottom corner. The goalkeeper has no chance. Superb stuff.

That's Cameroon's first real chance. A deep ball to the back post picks out the substitute, who, with a diving header, cannot get enough of a contact on it to divert goalwards. It skids off his scalp and flicks wide.

It's taken 70 minutes to come, but N'Koudou puts it straight on top of the goalkeeper. They need to do better with that delivery to have any chance of an equaliser.

Mbuemo breaks into the box and goes down. The replay suggests he went over the trailing leg of Adam Masina, but VAR do not get involved.

Amrabat and Youssef En-Nesyri are on. They replace El Kaabi and El Khannouss
